Ok...so except for the occasional..lets throw a line in from the beach and have a beer. Has anyone fished on the bay at night...why? or why not? I know most of us have fished fresh water lakes at night...just curious if anyone has fished Baja at night...????

few years ago we dropped a bunch of hoop nets around structure....it was like a desert out there!

I know that illegal fishing takes place at night in some places. I don't think I would want to be out there with them.

1-too many pacificos by then !
2-the illegal pangas will net ya.
3-the drug runners will get ya.
4-the marine federales will think your a illegal panga or a drug runner n confiscate you and the boat
5-you'll hit a whale shark....sink n drown
6-the winds come up...now you'd wish the pangas or drug runners would get ya.
7-humbolt squid are active...BIG ONES ! and you have a "not big enough" boat
8-cant see orange t-shirts at night...(floating,powerless,in the middle of the bay),(with the handheld,non-waterproof vhs taking a saltwater bath)

I don't know about gonzaga but fishing at night can be very productive with bait. Some big critters like to cruse the shore then. A lantern light would bring in bait fish for the bigger guys to attack. Have a good time and let us know how it goes.

As it has already been mentioned the beach can be a lot of fun to fish at nite! we fished Gonzaga and BOLA for years.
Nite time gives the fish cover they don't have other wise it can get really crowded on the beach where there is a light, just find a sandy section and a few rocks is even better, one or 2 coleman lanterns work great, now cover half the lens with al foil that will let you direct the light and keep it out of your eyes.
Corvina love nite, lite, sand and Sara Spooks, you will get a shot at larger fish at nite, small WSB will mix with the corvina sometimes and join the party.

You may get a other visitor also and that's the Tax Man they love those conventions:lol:

The northern gulf use to be chucked full of those guys, anyway fish the outside of the lights on the edges that's where they will hold.........let me know how things go.

That's what they are sometimes called along with the Man in the gray suit :lol:As I mentioned the northern gulf was stuffed with them until the locals discovered there was money to be made in the fin market.

Have heard more than my fair share of boats at night whilst camped at Papa Fernandez...always seemed a bit creepy.
