Towing a boat between Catavina and LA Bay

Pfish - 9-29-2016 at 06:58 PM

All,

Just towed my boat up from LA Bay to San Diego. Good road most of the way without too many incidents. There was one really bad stretch of road starting about 7 miles north of Catavina to the LA Bay turnoff. It is as bad as I have ever seen the road. 7 inch deep potholes. If you trailer a boat, go very slow. Figure an extra 40 minutes for this stretch. Cruise down the middle so you can swerve both ways. If a semi comes, slow down to a crawl so you are not forced into a pothole. There were three stretches that I literally had to idle through as the potholes went from one side of the road to the other. These cannot be good for cars either, but a boat you are going to blow a tire, spring, axle, bearing or all four.

Well, he did say the potholes were only 7" deep, so probably surface fish only, not any keepers.

Thanks for the report, heading down Wednesday, and last time had to re-align after that stretch. Will go really slow this time!

21 days and a wake up.

@ Woody. I spearfish and there were quite a few Cabrilla. Did not see too many boats with sportsfishermen going out. Have fun!

That stretch of road was horrible when we went through in mid July.

Thank you. I was starting to worry.

I haven't posted here for a while. I was beginning to think everyone had lost their sense of humor.
