La Bocana Cactus Restaurant - Joaquin's Place

BajaBlanca - 10-24-2016 at 04:26 AM

We are very lucky in La Bocana to have many restaurant options. One of the better known in Joaquin's place - he is not open regular hours, one must find him and make a reservation. Well worth it, his meals are unbelievable! No menu, he asks you what you like and takes it from there.

He posted, for the first time ever, a list of prices: $25 for lobster and $20 for fish or shrimp. All meals include a delicious salad, rice or creamed corn with rajas that is soooo good, sashimi if you ask for it:

After a meal, it is customary to head out to the front porch and chat with everyone who is there - either a local or other customers.

I forgot to mention that the gentleman in the corner on the porch is Joaquin's cousin and neighbor. He took us to see his arrowhead collection and he must have over 100 arrowheads of all shapes and sizes and colors! Truly a remarkable sight. He says that his family started collecting when no one else was doing it, so they were able to find many around watering holes where the Indians used to work here in La Bocana.

I didn't get any photos as I was oooooing and ahhhhhing too much.

Great place and people. One of the best places around. I just hope they don't screw the pooch by partnering up with "The Griz" as all he will do is screw up a really good wet dream.

He does state he is on TV in 50 million homes but funny how you can't even find a channel "he" is on.

May La Bocana florish as it it trully a cool place.

I love sharing our neck of the world with everyone and have talked about Joaquin for the 10 years we have been here... can't say anyone has spoiled this slice of heaven yet.

We have seen quite a few hunting and fishing programs with Mike the Grizz - his idea is to help our local fishing cooperative flourish even more, which is what they want, in order to have some of our brightest youngsters be able to come back and live/work here. It is what we are all about here!

I also totally agree that the "Griz" is a bad hire and cant figure out why the coop has him.
