To go along with the recent discussion of Telcel I would like to offer another example of Carlos Slim's - err, interesting, billing
practices. Our Telmex bill is always the same except for the last two months. Included on our bill was a 39 peso change for "SEGURO INBURSA
INTEGRAL". Fortunately we live near the main Telmex office and I refuse to go in to an Oxxo. I went to the pay kiosk and it showed that I owed my
normal bill plus 39 pesos for "SEGURO INBURSA INTEGRAL". Now, I must explain, you never want to have to go in to the main office because you are
going to have to wait in a long line. Nevertheless I waited to talk to a rep. I asked that "SEGURO INBURSA INTRGRAL" was. She said it was
insurance. For what? I asked. For all kinds of things she replied. But I didn't ask for it I sez. Oh (surprise) you don't want it? No, I don't.

I'd be OK with the increase...if the service was decent. But, my Telmex modem drops internet every 5 few minutes, so the increase monthly price feels
a little insulting.
I don't even bother going to the Telmex office with issues or questions anymore. They just make up answers to get rid of you.
BTW, does anyone know if I can buy a good DSL modem on Amazon or somewhere and use it instead of the crappy little Telmex modem? I don't know enough
about DSL to know if any DSL modem will work on a Telmex line.

My Telmex update- I pay my Telmex bills online, a couple of months ago an ad appeared about faster speed, I have received 1.7mb to 3mb on a good day
since I installed wifi years ago, I have always been told 3mb was the maximum download since we are on copper lines still. I entered my number and it
said my package was a 10mg max and for another $190 pesos more I could receive 20mb download speed.
I'm fed up with dish network prices and want to stream, I went to Telmex and again was told 3mb was my max, I showed them that Telmex website says I
should be getting 10mb max after not accepting their answers and I said I wanted the manager to contact me, he emailed and then we spoke on the phone
about my slow speed, he gave the same excuses as the others, I told him I read copper lines can get up to 20mbs and I only want 10mbs which is what I
pay for.
Bottom line is after about 2 weeks of back and forth, running speed test daily, I now receive 10-10.3mbs consistently, my upload was still at .23-.28,
after more talks I now have 1.3 upload, up and down both are very consistent now.Timo1 - 3-11-2017 at 06:19 AM
I am really sorry for this slight high-jack, BUT, does anyone know if when we travel north if Telmex will reach into Potrero Campground on the US side

You might be getting Telmex and Telecel mixed up. Mex is a hard line phone and cel is the cell phone. At least I think so!
