Ojo de Liebre

Does anyone know when Ojo de Liebre campground opens for the season? I love camping there but have been denied entry a bunch of times for being too late in the day, too late or early for the season.

The last time there I somehow managed to talk my way in when I should have been denied entrance. Upon leaving, the day guard was rightfully apoplectic since he wasn't expecting any tourists from inside the salt facility. I pleaded innocence.
Of course he was kind enough to let us leave.

I just read in the local paper that the first wave of whales have arrived and I'm hoping the ejido will be open for business soon.
I hope to be in the vicinity soon.
For those who have never visited this place I highly recommend it. It's a clean, safe place with lots of wildlife. I don't choose to stay at the new palapas prefering the more distant private campsites. I hope that option remains for the future.

Odd they turn away customers.

Try San Ignacio lagoon. Not industrial, more of a natural state. Customer oriented, they wont turn away customers.

Ojo de liebre opens it's gates Dec.15...on paper anyway...usually they dont start running boat tours till Jan.2 but ya never know. The gate is manned by the salt works security and sometimes they turn people away in the dark as newbies get lost in the salt ponds sometimes...but if you know where you are going just tell the guy and he should let you in...depending on the guy and his mood.
