Traveling south on highway 5 on Dec. 10-12 to Loreto.

Anyone heading down via the eastern route around those dates? Or anyone looking for a ride south. I'll probably be crossing in Mexicali or Tecate.

I going to try 5 for the first time in Jan. I'm towing a trailer and have been following comments made by others who have used 5 in the last few months.

If you see anything that you think would be a deal breaker for a trailer and small pickup please post it.

Have a good trip.

It is 23 dirt road miles... graded, heavily used by all vehicles. It is a construction detour-like road.

If that freaks anyone out, they should really avoid any Baja trips, because even the paved highways often have miles-long dirt detours as they are being repaved, or improved... like south of Ensenada near Santo Tomas and San Vicente.

Towed a 20 ft boat north bound in early Sept. Didn't have any problems at all. Too me it's less stressful than highway 1.

24miles of dirt

Just took it yesterday heading north I air down my tires to 30lbs vary doable with trailer but go slow. on our way south last week I
did see a guy at the Taller place at Chapala who broke a leaf spring luckily he had brought a spare. The guy at Chapala can air up your tires and heading north the Pemix station at Gonzaga has air.
