Holiday Family, Friends and FISH!

It is a bitter sweet holiday season this year with the village mourning 3 of the town matriarchs which affects every family. My daughter Sirena, her husband and new baby Santiago are here with us for the week as well as good friends from Denman Island in Canada and some great guests. Here we are with our traditional Christmas day mimosas.

After the band played at the funeral on Christmas Day, they came for turkey dinner here and played for us. We hosted 5 wonderful young men from India who certainly will never forget their first night in Mexico as they were treated to a Baja style welcome...including tequila, nortena music, dancing and culture...they learned alot of spanish in a few hours and taught my family some Indian dances! Epic cross cultural experience.

This fellow really got the cumbia rythm and played with the band.

And when the turkey leftovers were gone, we moved onto sashimi and seared yellowtail from this monster! Our guests David and Andrew scored what they came for....40 lb yellowtail! The best part was they didnt want to take any fish home so everyone is having fresh yellowtail today!

All of us here at La Bufadora Inn wish all of you a safe and Happy Holiday!

Shari,
A very good time was had by all....again, the band was great....and the bass solo by Juan's tio was world class...a very talented group !

The guys from India (originally) all work in Seattle in the computer tech/software industry ... a polite, hospitable bunch with no hesitation in joining in with the fiesta....one guy told me that "This is my BEST Christmas ever !"

They shared their travel adventure stories since leaving San Diego several days earlier and certainly saw the humour in a group of Indians who, while speaking perfectly good English but with noticeable accents, spoke no Spanish....and when dealing with military checkpoints, their collective efforts to explain their travel plans to the soldiers resulted in a quick wave-through....a scenario they all agreed would make a great comedy scene.

They would have been a good bunch to hitch a ride with on their way to Cabo....what a documentary that would make...
