San Quintin area is about back to normal. No more protests at gas stations here. I believe some of the larger cities still have protests going on, such as Tijuana.

Prices are supposed to increase another 8% in February, so who knows, it might heat up again.

Like the weather, the protests are not precisely scheduled far in advance. Check in a day or 2 before you depart.

I was in the Tijuana, Rosarito, and Cantamar area on Monday. All was quiet with no lines at the gas stations. Locals said there was no shortage of gas. The new Pemex station in Cantamar had a big sign giving an exchange rate of 21.45 pesos to the dollar as a come on.

However, things can change quickly with the next scheduled increase in gas prices. The locals spent more time talking about the privatization of water supply (CESPT) and the possiblility of skyrocketing water bills.

Cross the border south early in the morning. Protests have occurred in the afternoon.

HI Jaun, valerie drove out Tues., no problems, but time will tell. The dirt road is great right now, but we'll see how much rain we get in the next few days. None as of yet.

Crossed at Mexicali last night around 6pm. About an hour. No signs of any protests. Every gas station was open including the one in puertocitos.

Waves but not to much wind lately. We've had 3 days of rain, the last was a couple of squalls last night. That looks to be the end of it. Saw a fisherman that came in last night that said the road wasn't to bad.
Valerie is in San Diego and wants to return on Thurs. I'll go out on the moto and check the road tomorrow.
No Nipper until maybe late March.
1 couple at chili bowl and Tony at solo but that's it.

Just drove down from San Ysidro (1/18) and then return up the East Side via Mexicali (1/22). Crossed the border at SY @ 7 am, no protesters, no crowds. Every gas station I saw (TJ, Ensenada down to San Quintin, El Rosario, Guerrero Negro, San Ignacio, Puerticitos, Gonzaga, Mexicali) was fueling cars, no protestors or road blocks. When crossing the border at Mexicali, some tents next to the border with signs protesting Trump. Didn't see any protestors though and definitely no kind of trouble. Smooth sailing.

Small protest at Ensenada toll booth tonight. Heading north about 6pm there was only 1 lane open through the booths and about 10 peaceful protesters with signs. 4 Federallie cars with the officers inside I assume. Traffic backed up minimally southbound. Couldn't see how many protesters on that side. All in all not a big deal and free toll :-)
