Mex 1 or Mex 5 in the rain?

I headed north on Mex 1 a couple of years ago in the rain. No problems with flooding that time. Any thoughts on whether Mex 1 or Mex 5 is more likely to have issues?

I can only imagine a muddy mess with the dirt detours along 1 in the Santo Tomas-San Vicente section they are widening. Then all that farm town traffic and mud on the road from the side streets.

I guess check the San Felipe or Gonzaga Bay live cams to see if they have rain, in the morning. There was only one big puddle after the week old rains when I was on the construction zone near Chapala.

If it's road washout type rains I'd expect Mex 1 to get fixed up quicker but Mex 5 less likely for a total washout. The west side of the peninsula will wring out a lot of the water before it can fall on the east side. Either way you will get muddy. Pay attention to any road reports and make a last minute decision.
