Campo Rene for lunch!

BajaBlanca - 2-25-2017 at 07:34 PM

We decided to hit up Campo Rene for lunch with our Idaho amigos and bajanomad Texas Pigiron. It was a gorgeous day to go:

Imagine our surprise when we ran into the San Ignacio contingent!!

We also met up with dear friends who are spending a couple weeks there - they brought us some goodies we had ordered:

Lunch was really delicious - my order was for tacos de camaron gobernador which is 3 tacos on a corn tortilla with shrimp n cheese inside, guacamole and Mexican bandera salsa on the side. Ohhhh so good

The waiter (whose name I think is Eduardo) speaks English really well and took very good care of us.

Looks like a Great day!

Nice report Blanca!
The last time I was there they only sold hamburgers... We made PB&Js, instead.
When I research that part of Baja, I will order those tacos, see you then!

any upgrades on the old cabins....like roofing?

Blanca, I thought that was you I saw. I was just finishing fishing and pulling my boat home.

The waiter' name is Jesus or "Chuy". Born and raised in Abreojos. Worked on a cruise ship for years and speaks English.

Did you see us as we drove by La Baliza looking for Fishhead Dave?

He does speak English so well and it was a pleasure for our friends to be able to ask him questions about the menu.

upgrades? not that I could see, but the two new cabins are there and look as pretty as ever.

It was a perfect day for C Rene and we plan to go back again soon.

Runway

Roger182 - 2-26-2017 at 09:14 AM

Was just wondering if the runway is still in use and if so, how did it look.

sledneck - 2-26-2017 at 05:05 PM

We were there the day before for lunch, the runway looked very good, no wind sock though

David K - 2-26-2017 at 05:39 PM

Was the runway (hard pack landing field) clear of tires and ditches?

sledneck - 2-26-2017 at 06:42 PM

Yes, hard packed smooth and clear of debris and no ditches. Looked liked you could taxi right up to the restaurant!

Roger182 - 2-26-2017 at 07:27 PM

We have flown in there a couple of times from Mulege, had a great lunch and pickup some oysters and headed back, fun spot, hope they keep the strip open
