Will be crossing northbound towing a very large boat on the 14th or 15th of April (Friday or Saturday). It will be Semana Santa week just to make things interesting. Any recommendations on where to cross and when? San Diego will be my final destination.

Last year some friends mentioned having to go cross at Otay towing their race trucks, so I assumed that was because it may be difficult to navigate through the SY crossing over a certain overall length or required due to gvwr. During Semana Santa should add some more excitement! Hopefully everyone is headed South that day...

Looks like otay has k rails set up as a slalom once you pass the booth.

My advice, David, is to cross at Otay and use the commercial truck lanes. Just follow the 18 wheelers as you drive on corredor 2000.

Easy.

You can cross at Otay, stay far right, that avoids the tight turns after crossing.

Once you get through the CBP gates at Otay you have to navigate through a K rail chicane....not good if you are towing anything large, and you can't depend on the far right lane being open/available. Suggest San Ysidro N/B

How about launching it at Popotla, pick up a load of paying customers, and driving it north the San Diego area. Maybe the start of a new and exciting career.

They recommend for large vehicles...bigass motorhomes etc, to use the far left gate at Otay going north.

have you considered nogales? very easy to return you TIP too ( easy wide open parking several miles south of the border)

The far left lane at Otay Mesa is a Ready Lane that requires a passport card. The regular lanes are in the middle with the Sentri lanes on the right side.

The far left lane at San Ysidro is a regular lane and gives the straightest shot across the border. Ready Lanes are in the middle with Sentri Lanes at the far right. However, after clearing customs both regular and ready lanes have a roomier exit to make the turn into the exit lanes leading to I-5/I-805. These lanes are more constricted.

David I cross at tj with my 5th wheel use left 3 lanes, it is almost straight shot to secondary, which Iam sure they will send you. Have fun
