Almost stopped in on Thursday, but had many miles to go before I slept. Didn't even try and get fuel in SF as it was a madhouse.

Your bias is showing. That's less dust than what gets kicked up on a windy day and in a much smaller area. The race is a huge event for the whole town and is welcomed by the locals as it brings a huge influx of visitors and money.

And btw, I live there so I have a pretty good idea of what's going on locally.
