Drum Roll Please......TUNA IN ASUNCION!!!!

shari - 7-26-2017 at 01:38 PM

Nomad Rossman hit the tuna jackpot this morning in his tin boat north of Bahia Asuncion where he found 72 degree water and dolphins who indicated where the yellowfin tuna were. He hit a wide open tuna bite and left them biting! Let hope it's not just a passing school but Capt. Juan has been saying for months now it will be a good fishing season this fall...great start anyway! Now for some wahoo right!

To celebrate the appearance of the tuna, we will be hosting a tuna bonanza this evening with sashimi, seared and BBQ tuna bellies if anyone is in the neighbourhood drop on by!

If a potato tasted anywhere close to tuna I would.

and I do so love a good potato.

So I'll simply choose to eat both.

And KILL a good bottle of wine in the process. ..............

bajabuddha - 7-26-2017 at 04:46 PM

Just goes to show, trollin's fer fishin', just not always fer fish.

NOTE: wasn't meant at the tuna or Shari, nice lookin' Ahi to sup on. The time a person spends fishin' should not be deducted from their life.... but pulling a cawwot out of the ground by the hair is DESPICABLE.

Nice! Can't wait for October! :bounce::bounce:

Hook - 7-26-2017 at 06:17 PM

Waiting fer Chuckie to point out that he catches tuna out of Bumf*uck, Louisiana like that, every day.

It's better tuna fishing than I'm having in Idaho, I admit...............

woody with a view - 7-26-2017 at 07:22 PM

That doesn't SUCK!!!

Thanks for the kick-in-the-ass, Shari!

shari - 7-26-2017 at 08:46 PM

I was thinking of you when I posted this Woody! We had a patio full of tuna eaters this evening...fed 10 people and will feed the workers tomorrow too! The sashimi was yummy, seared...yummy but the lightly BBQ'd bellies were my favorite...although Alan's fresh out of the oven sourdough bread was epic too!
Thanks Rossman

aguachico - 7-27-2017 at 05:30 AM

I pictured Shari doing cartwheels from the BnB all the way down to the launch!!!

Hey Shari, how much weight has Ross gained driving around in that yacht?

Very excited and happy for you. Go gettum!

shari - 7-27-2017 at 07:19 AM

Hmm...I will have to brush up on my cartwheels for when the first wahoo appear!

This morning I saw what looked to be a school of tuna a couple miles off our place and a helicopter was checking it out...rut roh.

Here is some of the motley crew that gathered to feast on fresh tuna...and a couple Nomads thrown in.

chuckie - 7-27-2017 at 08:18 AM

Nice!

fishbuck - 7-27-2017 at 01:29 PM

Nicely done. Looks like evereyone had fun.

Hook - 7-27-2017 at 03:37 PM

My wife and I have decided that we now REFUSE to cook tuna ever again. Even tataki-style or the ubiquitous rare-seared style is just not as good as sashimi, nigiri or a spicy tuna hand roll in soy paper.

Wishin' I was tuna fishin'.............gonna have to settle for halibut and salmon out of Port Hardy in the next few weeks.

Ever noticed that the fish you donĀ“t catch anymore sound way better than the fish you are catching? I would kill for some fresh King Salmon or Buts!

shari - 7-27-2017 at 04:06 PM

I'd trade a tuna for a salmon any day!!!

Someone once asked me what is the best way to cook yellowtail. I said "don`t cook it".
BTW for yellowtail, I think it`s better on the fourth day than fresh. But fresh is good too!!

SFandH - 7-27-2017 at 05:20 PM

I can tuna fish but I can't tune a piano.

Sorry.

Ahhh, Port Hardy, wish I was up there now. Not for the town or the fishing but to hike The North Coast trail, check out Ronning's Garden, and of course Port Hardy has the giant carrot in the park to see!

I have licensing for nine days, but the weather up there is bound to keep me off the water for a few days AND I have access to a Subaru. Where else should I be checking out? Not gonna pay for a freshwater license, though. Just the ocean with the salmon stamp.

This thread is about warm beer, isn't it? :?:

shari - 7-31-2017 at 08:27 AM

back to TUNA new flashes...Rossman braved a big swell yesterday and came home with a nice big tuna to show for it...what a guy eh! Juan is fit to be tied that this weekend fishers cancelled due to the storm threat....good news is the water warmed up...it was 79 just a few miles off San Pablo...wooooo hoooo!

Russ - 7-31-2017 at 02:53 PM

Sharri, I thought the coop would be going after any tuna they could get. Are they set up to can it?

BornFisher - 7-31-2017 at 04:18 PM

79?? Tell Ross to go catch a dorado haha!! Congrats to Ross for another tuna!!

aguachico - 7-31-2017 at 04:39 PM

OMG. He's on fire and I'm am sooo jealous.
Keep it coming.

Did he take ice this time? He needs a polar bear bag!

shari - 7-31-2017 at 05:22 PM

Ross already caught some dorado so they are also around and there are some lovely kelp paddies we havent seen for a couple years here.

The coop would need a special permit for tuna Russ.

Rossman - 7-31-2017 at 06:48 PM

Tuna, Dorado, Meh That's just so.......last week. The Wahoo hunt begins tomorrow.

MICK - 7-31-2017 at 08:42 PM
