Getting there: http://www.exede.com/blog/viasat-2-begins-long-journey-space...

That is good news. I hope the launch was a success and the system is working on good order. I guess this an old news item since the launch was scheduled for June 1. More info?

How does someone get Exede in Baja? Are there reps that work within the BSC area and come out install? Anyone know the aprox costs of a setup and monthly?

Click on the ad below and send your location and request contact info & plans available. We have an installer here that speaks English and if I remember correctly (?) there is a new system available and it's cheaper/ mo. But it won't work with my old equipment so I'd have to pay around $600 to $800 (can't remember which) for the equipment and setup. He says it is faster and more reliable though. More plans to choose from too.

Here in Pt. Chivato we just got a new wi fi system and I had it installed last week. It's faster than Excede and is only $30/mo. I expected slow downs during peak hours but haven't encountered that yet. Here's the contact info on my receipt

Whoa, Russ.

So that was the total installation cost on the contract? And then 30 dollars a month? Do you know what the cap monthly is? Can't tell from that form.

Thanks!

The one that people are getting right now, is Exede USA, user is given some address in AZ. Yes, there are installers in Baja, many.

The new one is scheduled to sell services beginning in early 2018. Then there will be (probably) exede.mx page with all the plans, phones and FAQ. The launch went as planned, the sat in in the process of positioning on the orbit, it takes time. There were brief reports since the launch, the linked article just covers the project better.

If what they are saying about Viasat-2 capacity is true, BCS will be covered better then. I think senor Lopez is reselling cable through wifi. Price-wise and cap-wise, you can't beat the cable.

Alm - 8-2-2017 at 01:07 PM

Viasat-2 takes longer to position because it's powered by electrical propulsion, yes.
Looks like everything goes as planned: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31502000-ViaSat-2-Successfu...

you can but it will eat all your data allocated for the month in 60 minutes

no streaming music
no downloading movies

these eat up too much data

so do cell phone apps

for this SAT application you need a router that limits your use daily so you don't burn it all up at one time

even when you do you can still "surf the web" check email and use facebook...even at the slower speeds

rts551 - 8-2-2017 at 01:12 PM

Russ. I installed the same type of Ubiquiti system here is Abreojos. It beams an ethernet signal point to point. It is only as fast as your starting point. The starting point in my case is Telnet....

I feel I'm highjacking the Excede forum so I'll start another on this new service.

Shari probably asked about that wifi-cable gizmo. About sat - yes, 10-12 GB a month isn't much, barely enough for a few movies. Some Exede plans in the US allow (almost) unlimited downloads in night time, but not all plans. Will see what will come out of this Exede.mx. Hughes.mx is worse than Hughes.us - less data for more money.
