Saw this creature yesterday and for me, had it been alive, you would have heard my scream.

Palo Verde it is! I guess I am not the only one who thinks they are disgusting, from internet:

- They're enormous and they're ugly, but the Palo Verde beetles are very misunderstood insects.

The Palo Verde Beetle might look like a giant c-ckroach to many people. It is seen most often in the Phoenix area desert during the summer.

The Palo Verde Root Borer (Derobrachus geminatus), more commonly known as the Palo Verde Beetle, may look terrifying but it is harmless

Derobrachus geminatus, known variously as the palo verde beetle, palo verde root borer, or palo verde borer beetle, is a longhorn beetle native to the American Southwest and northern Mexico which derives its name from the palo verde tree. Wikipedia

They are reasonably safe, but not completely harmless. They have big P-ncher like jaws and won't let go once they clamp on. Just ask my dog!:o
