When you add ice to water the water will rise based on it's displacement but when ice is already in the water and melts the displacement is already factored in.

I just put ice in my rum and coke, and as it melted it got empty.

Just got back from Gonzaga, we got a lot of rain and wind blowing 30-40 with gusts to fifty mph . Alfonsinas got it hard on Saturday high tides , wind from the south and big waves pushed on the beach. Under mining the slabs and flooding about the first 17 homes south of the hotel . Many downed patios and flooded homes .

Just drove from Mulege to Ensenada Mon/Tues and everything is good on the road except a handful of spots where they are pushing mud around, such as Catavina. No problems with any type of vehicle, ignoring the usual economy car eating potholes.

That would be Sept 4. So the road that collapsed Sept 2 - below - has been fixed?

The photos/videos of the Greenland ice melt are dramatic. Lots of fresh water that used to be frozen and on land entering the ocean.

I just checked the official global warming sea-level rise Coyote Palm Tree hydraulic space modulator measuring webcam and it says nature bats last, the climate has changed before, it's ridiculous to think man can affect climate, and two photos taken 40 years apart proves that the greenhouse effect is a Chinese conspiracy to gain control of international trade.

Funny that all that melt water has yet to raise the sea just one foot more, in the past 60 years.

The video is obviously shot in the summer when the ice would melt. How much ice is added back on in winter? They never talk about the ice adding to Greenland every winter.... only the ice leaving every summer.

No doubt at all that things change, the earth is dynamic. The sea level used to be far higher, thousands and millions of years ago (I can show you petrified shells in the desert). If it is rising, then it is just going back to where it used to be. It would be most interesting to see actual sea level higher above normal high tide, in Baja, by even a foot, since say, 1950... It hasn't, yet.

Is it a few inches higher? Maybe? With the daily high tide several feet above low tide, is a few inches of one foot more doing anything at all? If it is a problem, can't you adapt? The animals are smart enough to, after all.

Will people need to move? Sure. Will new launch ramps and marinas need to be made? Naturally! Can man do anything to change what Nature intends? I doubt it!

Trying to stay on the subject... Since discussing one hurricane without looking into big picture is technically possible... If you don't plan on living there longer than a year or two...

It is disconcerting that Baja Nomads used to be the "to go to" place to get solid information, and help in times of trouble. Now you have posts that wildly veer into politics , personal attacks that just make the place look foolish.
If you want to pontificate, argue about melting ice, do so to your hearts content on ANOTHER thread. You could title it " is there a correlation between melting ice and diminished brain function?
Time and place people, and a sense of compassion and decorum..

I went to town yesterday

Its clean...
lots of people in the streets sweeping

all businesses are open
lots of fresh food in the stores and milk

the water is on and clear
the electricity is on

the river is clear mot muddy looking
the ocean is normal again

by Friday you wont ever know there was a storm

the people that live in mulege are amazing and recover quickly

I think a few did...

2 years ago they dug the river about 20 feet deep to the west...2-3 miles back

today its refilled with silt mud and sand...
its only about 3 feet down right now

one more big rain and the river houses will be completely under water if they don't dig it again...

this task saved the town the last couple of storms
