Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel in Baja Sur?

fishmaster - 9-11-2017 at 10:59 AM

Greetings,
I haven't seen a discussion of this recently, but I am beginning to plan my annual winter trip to Baja. I have a 2016 GMC 3500 with a Duramax Diesel that requires ULS diesel gas. The last I heard, it was available in Baja Norte but not Baja Sur. Is this still the case?
I also contacted my dealer last week and, while they had never been asked before, they thought it would be ok to use the diesel gas available in Baja Sur.
Thanks for any insights that you may have!
best fishes,
steve

Until someone else responds who may have better information:
Your information seems to be correct... Still no ULS (UBA in Spanish), just Low Sulfur (Bajo Azufre) last we saw reported in the southern state.

Many have taken their new diesels but on short trips with only a tank or two of LS, returning to ULS seems to clean it out? I think Bob of Bob & Susan here has personal experiences with his truck and he lives in Baja Sur.

OK David...thanks for your reply.
Yea, that is what I'm hearing...if you only use 1 or 2 tanks then you should be good.
thanks!

I got rid of the diesels...too bad

10 tanks wont hurt your truck

remember ULSD is all about smog

diesels burn it all

and I've NEVER talked to anyone that ruined their truck with baja diesel...well...any REAL person
