"MISIÓN SANTA MARIA" vs "LA CUEVA DEL PIRATA"

Hi BajaNomads,

This weekend (2 adults - 2 boys) we'll be staying for a couple of days in San Quintin, we want to explore the area and enjoy the dinning possibilities, my son wants to do some surfing and we'll probably do some surf fishing as well.

I've thought of staying at "La Cueva del Pirata" ($700 ps) because it looks like a place with "character", the "Misión Santa Maria" ($850 ps) looks a lot nicer but... this is where I'm seeking input from anyone that has stayed at this places.

Other possibilities are (????) "Old Mill" or "Don Eddie's Landing"

Any suggestions mos welcome.

Muchas gracias amigos Nómadas...

I've only stayed at the Old Mill and Don Eddies. They are both good but The Old Mill has history with me.

And Javier that runs the place is super.
You MUST eat at his small restaurant he runs and chefs at.
Get the seafood special.
He cooks it table-side on a half wheel of real imported parmigiano reggiano. What a great show and super Delicious.
Prices are more than fair.

That wave is never bigger than waist high. We used to always check it out and never seen it good enough to get wet. SQ has miles of closed out beach breaks. Try the shipwreck or cuatro casas for dependable reef action.

hola,

regarding hotels, i've always stayed at jardines, great newer rooms with up to three queen sized beds or with two beds or even one with fantastic prices. they also have a newer, great restaurant run by the family. better make reservations !

there must be some pretty good surfing too as on the outside on the pacific side, i've seen surf along the shore outside the bay while fishing. getting there may be a problem but i've also seen people surf fishing from the shores.

someone needs to chime in with the hotel info as i can't access my flash drive.

BIEN SALUD, DA RAT
