I wonder if the route will change with the local kerfuffle in our municipality about the ejidos denying access???

This happens every so often and in the end SCORE and the land owners work it out one way or another. I remember a few years ago the Ejido President at San Felipe had a beef with SCORE saying he was not paid and SCORE said he was. It went back and forth a while and SCORE made a deal with Ensenada to run the 250 race over there. The losers were the town of San Felipe and boy were they ticked off at the Ejido President.

the local chatter on facebook certainly reflects that the folks are some peeed off and lots of comments about money grabbing ejidos.

Shari,
Are those upset with the ejidos local Mexican residents or race enthusiasts?

TMW - 10-20-2017 at 10:36 AM

I see from RM632 to RM648 south of San Ignacio there is some new stuff. Part of it may have been used in the 2014 1000.

In the meantime, see if you can Amazon or stream/Youtube: 'Dust to Glory' from 2005...

Update: This may be the whole movie, free: https://solarmovie.st/watch/dust-to-glory.m2mvz/v724ll

its a big party atmosphere...kinda like a show...the taco carts set up in the popular spots even.

motoged - 10-20-2017 at 03:35 PM

I have seen Dust To Glory at least a half-dozen times....and will watch it again.....and again

Tacos and racing....sounds like it requires some cervezas and a chair...and a tent for waiting and snoozing.

I lke a pit area someplace around half way..The drama when a top guy drives in rolling wreckage is intense...

skibum - 10-27-2017 at 05:55 PM

I'll be traveling through Baja that week. Does anyone know when the first and last racers will get to San Ignacio? Maybe a good time to be off the road!

WestyWanderer - 10-28-2017 at 09:59 PM

I’m running a pit for the 1x and 3x (pro motorcycles) around race mile 455, any interested people are welcome to come watch.

To help skibum, when are you expecting the first bikes to arrive?

A general rule for Trophy Trucks (or the fastest 4 wheel racers) is to figure 50-60 mph as the average speed for the fastest of them.

So, if you are at Race Mile 500 and the first trucks/buggies start at 10 am: 500/60 = 8.33 and 500/50 = 10. So 10 am + 8 hr. 20 min. to 10 hr. or 6:20 pm to 8 pm (for the lead vehicles) and the rest will pass over the next several hours, ie. all night long!

We were pitting at El Crucero... as I recall, that was about Race Mile 400. The first bike, who was way-way ahead of the rest passed up around noon. The first Trophy Truck was just after sundown, or around 5:30-6. The next 6 hours were pretty busy for us, then it was very spread out after midnight.

Remember, Daylight Savings ends next week and if you are going into Baja Sur, you lose another hour.

That is true for normal people, but to cut down on confusion, all SCORE/race times remain on Pacific Time the entire length of the peninsula. Racers will live on PT.

I always forget, do I rotate the base of my sundial clockwise, or counter?

Can anyone tell me how I go about using some of the daylight I saved all summer?

4WD (Class 3)?

With that wing, he won't need 4WD, neither did Parnelli!

Parnelli Jones and the Big Oly Bronco, the day before the 1973 Baja 1000, Ensenada.

I snapped this photo of Parnelli climbing from Big Oly at the SCORE event, 40 Years to Glory:

Way cool!

WestyWanderer - 11-4-2017 at 02:31 PM

Sorry for the late entry DK, but our team is figuring the first bike through my pit will be around 8am and if all goes well that will be our 1x bike. We figure a 50 mph average for the bikes.

As a general rule of thumb you can figure a 55 mph average for the trophy trucks.

TMW - 11-5-2017 at 09:34 AM

303 shown above should not have any problem seeing at night unless in the dust. That is one bad looking Bronco. Good luck Chris.
