Got the idea off the sausage thread; the story about the fish tacos made from canned sardines made me chuckle.

My story from years back is ordering desayunos of juevos con jamon y papas. Got my eggs served with French fries and.... a slice of fried bologna. Not the most tasty of breakfasts. That was before I learned all the 'jamon' in Mexico is made from turkey (jamon de pavo).

My ordered ham an eggs at El Palomar in Santo Tomas and got one slice of ham lunch meat you could read a newspaper through.

A couple O years ago I was in Ensenada and spending the night so I of course hit up Hussong's Cantina.

Don't remember HOW many shots of Don Julio 70 I had ? Beers back.
But anyone that has had any shots there knows they are at least doubles.

Well next thing I remember is waking up in bed in my hotel room at about 5 am and still quite drunk.
And to my amazement there on the night stand next to the bed is two bean quesadillas ? I still to this day don't know how they got there ?

Even though cold I wolfed them suckers down...
Man did I NEED them !!!

Ya gotta watch those hot dog stands close also,,,, run out of wieners and you can get a couple of vienna sausages in that bun.. just not quite the same...
Also in San Lucas ordered a hamburger at a little cafe,, and you know.what you gonna get.....
bun, big slice of ham and a ground beef patty just as was ordered..
that one actually wasn't too bad..

My personal favorite is the THREADED BEEF that is mentioned on many a menu all over Baja!

Dang it Paco, I thought you were gonna say it was them two twenty six year old French twins. If your really really hung over the tostadas were probably a better deal.

Always got a bang out of Tom Millers disdain for the canned peas that were, in his opinion, in everything you ordered down there. The book of course was "Eating your way thru Baja" Not sure if still in print, as well as his other really funny short stories "Baja HaHa"

my favorite on the menu at a local restaurant in Asuncion, Keykos, is guts tacos...which are tripa in spanish.

i was invited to my best friends in-laws house in los angeles for a farewell party for his uncle who was going back to merida in the yucatan area, which i am not familiar with but was invited to visit.

from what i remember as it was over 40 years ago, they were bbq-ing meat and had various foods.

one taco they gave me was tripas de leche, as they called it. YUM ! i had quite a few along with beers and tequila. maybe that's why i don't remember too much about the party ?

still to this day, i can't find that particular taco and i do go to quite a few mexican restaurants around town, maybe just not the right one.

another good reason to visit the great people asuncion, no ? AND, i love to fish !

I think I started driving mex1 20 years ago. I hated beans. Texture, taste and the look. Ordering plates without beans was a crap shoot.

I hated when the beans touched my eggs. I order beans in san quintin once and shouted NO BEANS as the girl took a big spoonful and slapped them on my plate. Her look of WTF are you talking about NO BEANS was priceless.

Like a child I would separate the beans from everything on my plate.

After many failed attempts of ordering without beans, I just gave into eating them. Then you hookup with someone that makes them right. Then you start to have beans ranchero, considered to be a meal when you don't have money, and you love it.

Then you watch kids play in the bean vat in the calimax like it's a sandbox and you know where the flavor comes from...
