Great article about the first Baja 1000 which was called the NORRA Mexican 1000. It's the 50th anniversary of the race.

Great article Ted!

Jimmy Smith (one of the first racers, mentioned in the article) was a member of our early Amigos de Baja group here on the Internet and a great story writer and author ('The Grinning Gargoyle', as he was called by Choral Pepper).

Great article. Vic has become a good friend of mine, I'm a general contractor and I built a home for Vic and his wife BJ a few years ago, they are wonderful people, full of life and a joy to talk to about the good old days of Baja.

That's when making a run to the tip was a real adventure!

They truly were very courageous - there was no GPS there was no come and save me. Quite a feat to win.
