Mexicali Border Crossing - FMM

Franco - 11-18-2017 at 08:54 PM

Attempting to complete the online FMM form. Entry point for Mexicali is Mexicali l or Mexicali ll. All that I find on the WWW is Mexicali East or Mexicali West.

Is the lane correctly identified as l or ll at the crossing?

Mexicali is the downtown or original border. Mexicali East is the one a few miles east. Never heard or saw a I or II associated with either.

It took some searching, but I had nothing else to do.

Calexico east is Mexicali II

Appreciate the assistance and information.

Not certain, actually completely unfamiliar with the nuances, of the border protocols. If the FMM was for east and I attempted to enter via west would there be an issue?

The less interaction the better.

THanks again!

If you put down East (II) and entered West (I), that may be a big deal.. just drive the 7 miles to the East crossing.

I would say skip the online process which obviously is flawed if they use terms like I and II instead of East and West. Getting an FMM at Mexicali (West or I) is so quick and easy. The officer even collects the money, so no walking to a bank window next door. The only issue is parking... you may need to double park in front of the building (which is okay we were told) as you are only there 5 minutes to get the FMMs.

The online form specifies a specific date for entry. That item spells a recipe for disaster as deadlines have a way to backfire as Murphy lurks. LOL. Will drive up and proceed with the FFM at the East office.

Thanks D.

Just another reason to not get it online. I hope your trip is still going to be a lot of fun! The stress will vanish once you are south of Mexicali and you will have a wonderful time! Please post a trip report when you return!

East crossing to immigration is pretty darn easy and every time for me has been empty. There's a security guard booth after you go through primary inspection. Hang a right in there. The guard will have to open the "arm" to let you in. Then you walk back up to the office about 100 yards.
