Permits Required for Pyramid Photos

Rather steep fees for video or stills. Hope this revenue generator won’t eventually extend to permits for photographing cave paintings.

Weird...

It seems like with the technology available now in smart phones, that is a tough law to enforce. People should be able to take personal photos of their visit, or is this directed at commercial publications?

Maybe some good can be done if they only go after those who post selfies on the internet!

Seems outlandish to charge for a drone or any other means of taking a photograph.

Not so unusual. When you get a permit to visit the great Cave Murals, you pay an extra $10 dls (I think) to take personal photographs. Says the drone was "special" photo equipment. I would agree. He also trespassed onto federal property when it was not opened to the general public (and I would have to assume did not pay an entrance fee).
US national parks charge the following:
The National Park Service uses the following fee schedule:
Commercial Filming/Videos
• 1–2 people, camera & tripod only - $0/day
• 1–10 people - $150/day
• 11–30 people - $250/day
• 31–49 people - $500/day
• Over 50 people - $750/day
Still Photography
• 1–10 people - $50/day
• 11–30 people - $150/day
• Over 30 people - $250/day
Are there other permit requirements? You will be required to obtain liability insurance naming the United States as additionally insured in an amount commensurate with the risk posed to park resources by your proposed activity.

I think permits only required for commercial photography and as the article says β€œspecial” photography.
