You want to ride the bikes on a salt flat? Take the road to Punta Abreojos west of San Ignacio, maybe?

Says who? Where is your sense of adventure? After loading the bikes, you can go diving....to retrieve the one that fell overboard

But DK's suggestion is right on...rode those flats for two days last winter...more sand flats than salt flats (like Bonneville salt crystal flats)...still a rust recipe either way

There are small salt flats around San Carlos on the Pacific side of Baja Sur (Mag Bay).

And here in Lopez ATV's are put on pangas to go to Mag Island frequently.

There was a photo posted once of a Toyota truck on a panga. How they get cars over to islands off Baja... Also, Rancho Los Dolores is only reached this way by vehicle. You can see roads on Google Earth from the beach west to the mission... but no roads go over the mountain ridge to there from the Los Burros road.

My neighbor in Anchorage uses this boat in Prince William sound to work set net sites.

It also has an enclosed wheelhouse that can be placed on deck.

Over the hill to El Datil would be the closest

salina cuarenta is not for offroading. it's a local eco-tourism attraction, frowned upon if your goal of visiting to the dry lake is to rip it up with motor bikes :(

dont be an a$$hat!

South of Datil is not in the biosphere.. It's been so chewed by the last two storms I don't think the tracks would be visible. But agreed on the reasons for visiting
