RT 3

dmer - 12-17-2017 at 09:33 AM

Hi All,

I amplanning on driving from San Felipe to Mulege tomorrow. I know that about 15miles of 3 is not paved but what I want to know is is it drivable?

Thanks,
dmer

yes

John M - 12-17-2017 at 09:41 AM

Lots of vehicles of all types navigate it regularly, closer to 23 miles of dirt.

How quickly depends on your vehicle.

You may likely encounter semi tractor-trailers going pretty slow.

San Felipe to Mulege

dmer - 12-17-2017 at 09:43 AM

Hi All,

I am planning on driving to Mulege tomorrow from San Felipe. I hear that about 15 miles of RT 3 is not paved, but it will take me to rRT 1. Is the unpaved part drivable? I have a Honda Pilot, 4wd, but not very high clearance.

Thanks,

dmer

dmer - 12-17-2017 at 09:44 AM

Thank you and Thank you for the information. :)

dmer

no 4wd needed

John M - 12-17-2017 at 09:47 AM

Hard packed roadway, typical dirt road with a few rocks thrown in for a couple of miles west of Coco's. You do not need to be concerned about clearance driven at a reasonable speed.

RT3?

Mex highway 3 will take you to Ensenada. Highway 5 is the one that heads south to Mex 1.

Seems good guides and maps are needed! ;)

obvious to me....

John M - 12-17-2017 at 10:39 AM

...that he was referring to the road from San Felipe through Gonzaga to Highway 1 at Chapala, then south to Mulege

The thought that he misnumbered it in his question seemed not even worth mentioning.

Bob and Susan - 12-17-2017 at 10:41 AM

someone posted a video of the road recently...does anyone remember the link

You will wonder that for years to come

David K - 12-19-2017 at 03:25 PM

It was pretty consistant from Km. 74, Puertecitos, in 2007 to Km. 167 in late 2013. In other words, about 10-12 km. per year.

Now, 4 years have passed with vertually no new paved sections open.

Mañana
For ñ: Press and hold down Alt key and punch 1-6-4 with your other finger, then release the Alt key (at least on my PC).

You could just turn on Spanish keyboard in settings, and put stickers on changed keys of your USA keyboard :light: ... and a new keyboard purchase is so cheap even a Toyota driver can afford one, maybe $20 :light:

dtbushpilot - 12-19-2017 at 09:46 PM

Or you could just type manana without the squiggly line and everyone will still know what you mean. Hey, call me lazy but I like to think of it as being practical......but that's just me...

Jeezo, DK.... wish I wuz thmart as you (not really). Knew that, tried that, didn't work either in quick reply box or post reply, just kicked me off-site on both. Thanx tho for trying to "help out" as usual, PAL.

David K - 12-20-2017 at 07:12 AM

You said: "(the "en-yay" doesn't work any more here)"
I simply showed it is not a "here" issue because it does work here: ñ
Don't be mad at me because you have other issues.
Merry Christmas.
:light:;)

bajabuddha - 12-20-2017 at 07:47 AM

I'm not mad at you dk, you just pizz me off sometimes. Other issues? I just held down the alt key, typed 1 6 4, and it bumped me off the site AGAIN. Don't be defensive because of your having to help issues. Happy Quaanza.

David K - 12-20-2017 at 08:21 AM

Wish I could help you have a better day amigo.
