NORRA 2018 Mexican 1000 Race

TMW - 12-27-2017 at 09:07 AM

Dec. 27, 2017 (Agua Dulce, Calif.): In an effort to streamline the registration and planning process for 2018 competitors, NORRA rolled out its pre-registration program on September 15, 2017. The pre-registration program allows competitors to secure their race number and starting position early with flexible payment options after a non-refundable $500 deposit. Payment options are coming to a close and all entries must be paid in full after December 31st. Additional co-driver registrations and wristbands can be purchased through your NORRA account online through April 15th 2018. On-site purchases are not guaranteed to be available and are dependent upon the capacities of our hosting partners.

Visit www.norra.com/mexican1000_cars.php for information on pricing, benefits and more!

If a race team needs a logistical base to prep race vehicles or pre-run the course, send me a PM. My home in Bajamar has hosted teams before for the Score 1000.
5 bdrm. villa with two big garages within a gated community with a private security team.

Thanks for the heads up! Should be a blast this year :bounce::bounce:

Can't wait for the 2018 edition. I helped race in the last two and they were huge fun -- each had a 38-hour-race-recorvery-day. Not uneventful.

No prerunning for NORRA.
Entering this year with the same truck we raced the 1000 in 2014. Friends race the last two years in buggies.
Convinced him to drive my truck this year and race his buggy for the Mint in March.

Do you have a number yet.

whistler - 1-19-2018 at 02:06 PM

No, not at this time. My SCORE# is 2003 but I am not sure they will let allow me use it.
Most all organizations require your numbers to match the class you are racing in.
Still deciding drivers, co- drivers, non- drivers etc. to finalize entry fee.
Have till the 15th of Feb to pay.

I wish you success Glen. I really wish I was able to be more involved with your team! It will be a blast!!

My neighbor and good friend pre-registered with no issues. Pre-registration also allows you to book hotels early. I am counting down the days!! :bounce::bounce:

Me too David. Things are kind of screwy right now. We were fielding three vehicles but it has been hard finding drivers and support.
It is a long event and hard for people to take the time off.
Remember Danny? He came to one of your get togethers and donated sportfishing passes. He has raced the last two NORRA. I want him to drive my truck. He still wants to race his 10 car.We are going to have him race the Mint and then my truck for NORRA. Hopefully. If not my other drivers will do the whole race. Still trying to figure stuff out.
No matter, we are racing!

Whistler, let's talk. I am retiring later this year and have a number of friends that like to support NORRA and SCORE races in Baja. My neighbor is teaming chase with another group, which makes everything much more efficient.

whistler - 1-19-2018 at 05:24 PM

Not sure what you want to discuss but would be glad to.

whistler - 1-19-2018 at 05:55 PM

We will probably be staying at the Marina Hotel in Ensenada. If not, we will stay at the same place we stayed at for the 1000. Secured parking lot.
We have a house to stay in San Felipe and Loreto, friends.
Bola, hotels are all booked up. Going to have to camp. Wind is horrible that time of year. Fished there a lot back when.
La Paz, I have lots of friends I can stay with.
Cabo should be no problem finding a place.

Whistler, sure do, the "Squid Whisperer"! They've been whacking them lately.... Is Pisano in too?
It is a small world indeed.

Put some pics up of your rig please. Would love to see them. Good luck.

You must have seen the video! That was Danny’s voice you hear.
That was Paul Strasser operating the power brail.
He and Mark are owners of the long range boat “Independence” and it amazes me that Paul is just as passionate about fishing giant yellowfin or local rockfish.
They did 18 tons with that boat, 13 with the other. 31 tons for the company at $1000 a ton.
Yes, Mark, Paul and Danny are the owner’s of San Pedro Bait Co.
They also own 22nd St. Landing together.
Danny built a house in Abreojos. Spends a lot of time there. I took him down there when he was 19 years old. He is 49 now!
I will have DK post some photos.
