RIP

Dedina is the creator of Wild Coast. I did not know he was mayor as well.

I am very sorry for Mr. Bradley's death, and the fact that it was random, makes it even sadder.

Sad.

And Not good news for ixtapa.

Re being up at 4 am, why not be up at 4 am?
He was on vacation, so perhaps out late, or up early to go fishing or drive to mountains for a hike, or up early to exercise before the day got going.

BornFisher - 12-30-2017 at 09:41 PM

The paper reported this happened at 4AM. Who knows when it really happened.

BajaBill74 - 12-30-2017 at 09:46 PM

I hope someone explains why he was out on the streets at 4:00 am. If there was a good reason, we should all know about it.

Goat, I doubt he was fishing on the sidewalks or driving in the mountains.

I can think of great reasons to be out at 4 am. Unless things have changed drastically. Discos (holding the best local and tourist talent) don´t even get going until midnight and can go until dawn.

Horrid way to die. DEP

Early Hours

MrBillM - 12-31-2017 at 10:34 AM

Speaking as an established member of the Geezerhood who is "rarely" out and about once darkness falls, I find it ODD that others think it ODD that a middle-aged person on vacation would be out at 4 a.m. and, without evidence, immediately suspect the worst.

But, that seems to be the trend on Social Media. Everything is taken to have some unexplained negative attached.

Well, at least one article, says the American victim, was a surfing aficionado and adventurous soul.

Perhaps, he was up early getting ready to surf, because the best waves usually come in the morning, or so I'm told.

Then again, The LA Times, article, says that investigators, have learned that he "could have some addictions to toxic substances."

It has also been reported that a gunmen chased the victim and shot him with a 9mm handgun during a robbery.

The victim's sister, calls the toxic substance allegations, inaccurate, and it was a botched robbery, "in which his cellphone and money — a few hundred dollars in pesos — were taken."

Well, I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I would love to see the results of toxicology report, and believe most of these homicides also involve the victims, contributing to their demise in many ways.

chuckie - 12-31-2017 at 11:48 AM

Nosey sumbich aint ya...

mtgoat666 - 12-31-2017 at 01:46 PM

Based on the cops blaming the victim, I predict the crime will never be solved. When the cops immediately blame the victim, it is often because the criminal is in cop’s family, or the criminal in some way owns or controls the cop.

chippy - 12-31-2017 at 02:20 PM

It took the USELESS cops 4 hrs to arrive at the scene! Nuff said.

JoeJustJoe - 12-31-2017 at 03:41 PM

According to some of the newspaper articles, the police didn't learn of his death until four hours when they were called at 8 a.m in the morning, but once they were called they quickly responded.

Lots of wrong information in the articles, and most of the information about the so-called botched robbery is coming from the victim's sister, who insists this is only a botched robbery. If so, it's kinda of a dumb robbery for only a cell phone, and a few hundred pesos??

According to many sources including the sister, Bradley, was an ex-pat, who lived in 'Playas de Tijuana, in an ocean front condo. However, he worked in Imperial beach, where he oversaw the budget and served as city treasurer.( that job alone might bring up red flags for some)

The sister said her older brother was "deep thinking" and incredibly intelligent." She also said, he was an avid surfer, as a preteen growing up in Orange County, and his passion for the sport eventually led him to waves around the world, from Mexico and Central America to Thailand and Australia.

What jumps out to me, is Thailand is not really known as a surfing paradise, although it's known for a few other things.

Well well well, now this homocide of Douglas Bradley, is starting to make sense.

According to Mexican government, sources who traced Bradley's steps, he was at a well known bar in Ixtapa, that's known to have "sexoservidoras" ( prostitutes) and he took a girl out of the bar, and later had some type of differences with her.( I presume it was a her)

It still doesn't take away the fact that Bradley, was a homocide victim, and the person who killed him should be brought to justice.

But I still like to hear the whole story surrounding the homocide, and as you could see from my previous posts, I highly suspected that Bradley, was what you call a monger( a sex tourist) and probably addicted, because he sure fits the profile, from the little information provided about him.

It's also a case of another American, getting involved in what could be a dangerous vice, be in drugs, sex, or other favorite activity, in sometimes unsavory places, where not the best of the best hangout.

American murdered in Ixtapa had differences with a sexserver, says the government of Astudillo

CHILPANCINGO, Gro. (approve) .- The government of Hector Astudillo Flores reported that the American official Douglas Bradley, shot dead in the spa of Ixtapa, "had differences" with a servant sexer prior to his execution in the middle of the hotel zone.

Through an official statement, the state spokesman, Roberto Álvarez Heredia, affirmed that ministerial authorities reconstructed "every movement" that he made during his stay in Ixtapa and collected testimonies from the people who had contact with the victim.

"A witness said that the deceased today attended a well-known bar where he hired the services of a sexserver with whom, apparently, had differences. This line will be exhausted to confirm or deny the veracity of the testimonies collected, "said the state official.

In first instance, the government of Guerrero affirmed that the director of administrative services of the Imperial Beach city, California "could have some addiction to toxic substances" and now the official version of this crime indicates that the victim "had differences" with a sexserver .

After Guerrero Governor Héctor Astudillo, said the death of Doug Bradley, may have involved some type of addiction, and some kind of alteration with a Mexican "sex worker" in a bar. The Mayor, of Imperial Beach, took exception to the Mexican Governor's remarks, and that' understandable, since the victim was his friend.

But then as usual, like in the thread here. The ugly Americans, came out in force bashing Mexico, for the death of Doug Bradley.

We hear it all the time, because of some homocide, or accidental death of one or more Americans deaths in Mexico. The calls come out for a total ban of tourism, or some writer on social media, claims they will never go to Mexico again! My favorite, comments, was from this person who called for the "wall" to be built, and no more trips to Mexico.

Yeah, right, but in the meantime Mexico received about 30 million foreign tourists last year, and only a handful of them ending up dead.

Enjoy, the nasty comments about Mexico, because of the death of this one American, who it appears had a secret life in Mexico, but by all accounts was a great guy.

Mexico News Daily, also posted what was said from the "Proceso" magazine, but leaves out all the Mexico bashing.

Backlash after victim linked to drug use

From " Proceso" translated by Google. It's all about using this death to hate upon Mexico.

Like Doug Bradley, "I declare my addiction to the waves of Mexico": Mayor of Imperial Beach.

Through the same network, US citizens demanded justice and sent messages of outrage against Mexican authorities. Similarly, they highlighted the levels of violence, impunity and corruption that make it unfeasible to visit the country's tourist destinations.

"Doug was one of my dearest friends in Lake Havasu. He loved working for you Mr. Dedina. We are absolutely heartbroken because the place I loved the most in the world was Mexico. I will never go back to Mexico again, "said user Kim Ewald.

"I feel the loss of your good friend. I am Mexican-American who no longer visits Mexico. The culture is too unpredictable with the drug cartels. We regret what we got to know after Doug's death. It seemed that I wanted to live life to the fullest, "wrote Cristina Cupa.

Mark Palace seconded: "I'm sorry for our loss. Build the wall and no more trips to Mexico. Very very sad. Tragic".

And Al Urban added: "Another reason not to travel to Mexico. Very sad way of treating a tourist. "

John Smith, thus demonstrated his indignation: "This is a tragedy, which is what people think to go to a dangerous country where more people have died in the same period of the Syrian war. What are you waiting for? Cheap beer, women and everything else is more important than your own life.

James Follet released: "This is exactly why I will never visit Mexico again. A country like Canada, which borders the United States, could have it so well. But the bad men and the corrupt government keep moving towards the north. Sponsoring state of terrorists. We invite you to legal immigrants. #BUILDTHATWALL! "

Banetek also made reference to the Mexican government: "Sad to know that he lost his life but honestly what he expected. Mexico is a corrupt place, without law where people can not, even defend themselves from criminals with firearms. "

FROM Trip Advisor:
California man shot in Ixtapa after being in a local strip club. After receiving a personal service dance from a stripper in the club, he left without taking care of the propina for the "dance". The strippers "manager" then pursued the California man to collect what he felt was an appropriate fee, a chase ensued and the California man was shot for his disrespect to the dancer.

No doubt this was written as a joke by an American, with no understanding how most bars in "red light" areas of Mexico, operate.

It's another reason to suspect "Trip Advisor" reports, unless the comment writters, stick to the subject of reviewing the place or hotel they were vacationing in..

Since this is now a high profile case in Ixtapa, Mexico, most likely this homocide murder case will be solved, including the motives on all sides.

Closure, now we at least know what happened to Douglas Bradley, although we may never know the whole story, but at least there is an arrest, and there is a good chance of a conviction.

If the story is true, it doesn't sound like Bradley, handled himself the right way by going back to the bar and demanding his alleged stolen money back from the bar, and since he lives in Playas, and probably spends a lot of time in TJ's Zona Norte, he should know the bars only make money off the ladies drinks, and not what they do off the bar's property.

I'm also wondering why Bradley, just didn't use his hotel's safe, and limit the cash he had in his pockets? This way if he is robbed, it wouldn't ruin his whole vacation.

Arrest made in murder of US tourist in Ixtapa

Surfer's death followed an altercation in a bar

Police have arrested a man in relation to the homicide of Douglas Bradley, a United States citizen who was shot and killed in Ixtapa, Guerrero, on December 28.

State Attorney General Xavier Olea told a press conference yesterday the suspect was apprehended Zihuatanejo and fit the description of the killer given by a witness to the murder.

Bradley, a 49-year-old Tijuana resident who worked as an administrative services director at the city of Imperial Beach in California, was murdered following an argument with a sex worker he had met in a bar, Olea said.

After contracting the services of a woman called África or Keila, the pair left the 40-20 bar but, according to Olea, an altercation followed after Bradley accused the woman of stealing money from him.

Bradley returned to the bar where he reported the robbery and demanded his money back.

Several altercations with bar staff and customers ensued, after which Bradley left again. However, an armed man caught up with the surf-loving tourist and subsequently shot him with a .45-caliber handgun from a distance of between three and four meters.

The alleged murderer has been identified as Isidro N., a man also known by the alias “El Chiro.”

Family members of the deceased recovered Bradley’s body Thursday from a Zihuatanejo funeral parlor that was functioning as a government morgue.

State security spokesman Roberto Álvarez last week told reporters that Bradley had possibly taken drugs prior to his death, an allegation that sparked a rebuke from Imperial Beach Mayor Serge Dedina.

But Olea clarified that autopsy results only confirmed that Bradley had consumed alcohol before he was murdered.
