Hey guys im crossing soon and slowly make my way all the way down. I wonder can anyone tell me the best way to get to el cardon? Wonder if there is a good km turn off or if its just best to go santa rosaliita and make the trek north from there? I'm hoping for some really good fishing and beach combing. thanks in advance

Have fun and welcome. If you are there to surf... it must be kept secret as all sorts of bad karma spews from Nomad surfers of any surf discussion here!

If you are going to camp and enjoy Baja, maybe a little fishing, then Nomads like TW and myself can offer a few details on how to get there:

Take the paved highway toward Santa Rosalillita and just before nearing town is the graded dirt highway going north (7.8 mi from Hwy. 1). It is signed:

San Jose de las Palomas 52

The road is super (for Baja). Go 24 miles north from Santa Rosalillita.

The beach just north of El Cardón (Punta el Diablo, in the Almanac).

There is good fishing in the rock coves at the south end of Playa El Marron. Also at Punta Blanco near where the two roads connect on the map above. There is a rock outcropping on the beach and on the south side lots of yellow fin croakers and some corbinas. Best fishing is just before dark and at sunrise.

Going down to Santa Rosaliita and then up North is the easy way.

Much more fun to cut in around Catavina or before and then head South.
