Monday, I was on a bluff in Palos Verdes and while enjoying a cigar and a nice whiskey it started hailing . Imagine my surprise..

Made for a great sunset.

thebajarunner - 2-21-2018 at 07:28 PM

Devastating for almonds and citrus
Hope the worst has passed us by cuz it was brutal Monday night

AKgringo - 2-21-2018 at 07:32 PM

It dropped to minus 6 at Truckee, and the snow pack is on track to match or set a record low amount for the Donner Summit area!

BornFisher - 2-21-2018 at 07:58 PM

The endless summer ended! I lost 4 bean plants Monday night, 26 degrees here in Encinitas (way down low). Sweet peas made it! Bird bath froze, birds played hockey out there. Last night a little cloud cover warmed things up a few degrees. Come on cold--- my apples could use some COLD!!!!

advrider - 2-21-2018 at 08:02 PM

JZ you up in the Sierras? Kinda looks like Truckee in the picture...

Hook - 2-21-2018 at 08:27 PM

Yeah, I grew up in Minnesota's north woods and am just unable to complain about a little frost here.

Of my thirty five years in Alaska, three were spent working for Sohio at Prudhoe Bay. I once had to build a deck, and weather protection for the pipefitters at -56F (that's -48C Ged)!

Did you know that nails, and hand tool can break at that temperature?

By the way, the fahrenheit and Celsius scales cross at -40!

At 7am this morning near LAX, it was 47º -- now I know what it's like to live in the upper midwest.

29 degrees in Pleasanton this morning. Burr.

Hook - 2-25-2018 at 07:22 AM

39.6 in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico.

Marc - 2-25-2018 at 09:02 AM

Kinda cool here in Palm Springs. Spent an hour by the pool yesterday and did not have to jump in to cool off. The weather in Puerto Penasco was cool and drizzly last week.

chavycha - 2-25-2018 at 03:34 PM

46F in Bahia Asuncion this AM. This is not appropriate.

JZ - 2-25-2018 at 05:00 PM

Just did a nice hike in SoCal. Back up to a comfortable 70 degrees.

Go to San Carlos next time. I like it infinitely better than PP.

AKgringo - 2-25-2018 at 05:37 PM

Although I spend half my year in Alaska, this week was the first time my dog has been able to walk on water! The ponds on my property near Grass Valley CA froze over thick enough to support her weight (but not mine!).

It was funny watching her first encounter with ice, she doesn't like it when things change!
