Northern Baja or Northern Cal?? Friends driving north from La Paz said it rained on them from La Paz up to Loreto! No rain as predicted here in Pescadero. Very cloudy and stormy. Tio

About 50 miles south of Ensenada.

We rode the Sand Dunes yesterday all wet sand like riding on highway. Very nice at Antonio Del Mar lots of changes there. Strange dome on beach along with the abandoned homes in dunes.

I think it has to do with the titanium-sand mine. I went there the day I left your place...

End of the road, west from Colonet. Titanium beach mining?

Friendly guy by the sand dunes just south of the abandoned beach camp (now mine property) of San Antonio del Mar.

Side of a big dune (I played here in the 1960s while my parents fished for corbina on the beach). I last camped here in 1980, with my ATC 110. I found a bottle with a message in it south on the beach (from National Geographic sea current study).

View south where the cliffs of Cabo Colonet mesa begin.

View north, past the dunes, sand mine, to private homes on the north side.

My GPS track with map notes added.

Light rain and drizzle near LAX. We were talking about storm chasing tomorrow, but I'm not sure this storm will be up to it. Currently precipitation is not making it east of the mountains (San Gabriel, Sierra).

bajatrailrider - 3-4-2018 at 09:55 AM

Yes David I saw those strange things next to white house East/south of dunes. On the beach another strange dome built up 25 feet in the air. What happed to the people with homes on dunes they get kicked out. Bad deal or what.

David K - 3-4-2018 at 10:48 AM

Last year was the first time I was back there since 1980, so I don't know.

JZ - 3-4-2018 at 11:03 AM

6 feet of snow in the Sierras this week.

On the north end of the dunes there was a family of Chinese Mexican descent. One of whom was a man called Chinese Tony. He would bring a bucket of fresh lobster around to the campers to sell. He was a fun guy to talk to and the lobsters were great. I was there a few years ago and I was told he had passed away. I guess the family and friends moved on.

Where are the dunes?

Dunes are just south of the titanium mine, left branch as you are nearing the coast. Or, just hit the beach at the end of the road at the mine, and turn left.

The radar shows a huge band hit northern Baja, skipped San Diego. Hopefully Mike's gets some good rain to bump up the creek a bit. Headed out there 4/8.

You may force me to run a Knobby BW or wait till little sun light. Will report if I need use spare Knobby wheel. Still the MT43 works very good unless just soupy mud .On just wet dirt so much hook up may need lower gear go from 14t to 13t.

David K - 3-10-2018 at 09:00 PM

Make sure to bring vise grips! Just in case someone's brake cylinder explodes!

bajatrailrider - 3-11-2018 at 09:08 AM

HAAA David when you return to baja bring my vise grips there usa made not china junk. Bummer half clear this morning but soaking wet outside. No snow in forest at 4,000ft. I will see if I can get the guys up to ride today. I need a vacation from riding after 15 days of it, but wet dirt more riding. :)

Nice sunsets are the norm in Baja but rain is not. Hope your not having water problems like here. This summer will be bad I just installed a 4,000 under ground water tank.:)

John Harper - 3-22-2018 at 07:07 PM

I just looked the radar map, looks like Mike's and the mountains are getting a good rain again. Should be awesome in a couple weeks.
