This is a quote from this world famous physicist and I like your comments on this.

“I believe the simplest explanation is, there is no God. No one created the universe and no one directs our fate. This leads me to a profound realisation that there probably is no heaven and no afterlife either. We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe and for that, I am extremely grateful.”

makes sense to me!

Paco Facullo - 3-15-2018 at 06:24 PM

Ashes to ashes , dust to dust....

My motto, " Better have fun while you can "

Religion is believing, science is knowing .......

What's the difference between praying in a Church vs praying in a casino ??

Answer, You REALLY mean it, in a casino...

Oh God!

AKgringo - 3-15-2018 at 06:31 PM

George Burns and John Denver pretty much displayed my religious convictions.

TMW - 3-15-2018 at 06:35 PM

People have different beliefs, some for the good and some for the bad.
I think most people that don't believe in God seem to find him or her on their death bed. I'm not saying there is or isn't a God, that is for you to decide or believe, nor should you confuse God for religion. Just my opinion.

Howard - 3-15-2018 at 06:56 PM

The death bed quote is

similar to "There are no atheists in fox holes."

Paco Facullo - 3-15-2018 at 07:40 PM

Been through the ringer meself...

Then changed to Protestant ( not by choice ) ,

People say god is all knowing, all seeing and the embodiment to peace and beauty. My question is, “how do you know if you can’t see god?”

I share the same birthday as Hawking, Bowie and Elvis. All heros of mine!

I’m still trying to figure out what came first? The chicken or the egg?

Also don’t try to figure out the odds of the Big Bang throwing out debris that became the earth and a smaller piece that became the moon that regulates the tides which are essential to life on earth, and put both into an orbit around the sun conducive to sustaining life. And that’s just start.

In an infinite universe the odds are high that there are many earth-like planets out there.
The odds are high that there are many alien intelligent species out there. Many are probably much smarter and more humane than our pathetic Homo sapiens.

Yes , I SO agree !

But don't forget.

When I was back there in seminary school
There was a person there
Who put forth the proposition
That you can petition the Lord with prayer

Petition the lord with prayer
Petition the lord with prayer

You cannot petition the lord with prayer!

Yes, the Soft Parade must never be forgotten.

And also this, which always evokes Baja for me.

At first flash of Eden
We race down to the sea
Standing there on freedom's shore

Waiting for the sun
Waiting for the sun
Waiting for the sun

Can you feel it
Now that Spring has come
That it's time to live in the scattered sun

Good set of heroes Woodrow.

Why comment if there is no God?
Obviously because those who deny; worship their one true god = self.

So if there is no 'god' then there is no 'you'.
Unless 'you' are 'god' and thus you think you have something worthy of considering...but you don't.

It has become the norm to attack/deny Christianity. I don't see these same people doing the same to Islam because they're afraid of waking up without their heads.

I just watched the 2 hour NOVA special on "Black Holes" on my DVR (recorded earlier). After that, I wonder who could possibly not believe in God and still maintain their sanity?? The entire subject is mind-boggling to me-----both "God" and "black holes"!

I am hedging my bets, and therefore I remain an Agnostic.

Paco Facullo - 3-16-2018 at 08:58 AM

I would never say that there definitely is or isn't a God, in so far as it's not been proven or unproven.

So I say "Up to you" a common phrase in Thailand .

I can't necessarily say that I worship myself, but I have most certainly worshiped a few women in my life ...
.
.

You cannot petion the Lord with prayer!

AKgringo - 3-16-2018 at 09:20 AM

Sure you can! Just like this; "Oh Lord...won't you buy me...a Mercedes Benz?"

Count me among the agnostics.

It's Tough to Believe in God ........................

MrBillM - 3-16-2018 at 10:03 AM

.............. When you're a shriveled-up contorted dwarf confined to a wheelchair for decades unable to move enough to wipe your own butt.

He could be excused for thinking that the existence of God would mean that he'd done something to REALLY tick the Big Guy off.

In my most recent regular discussion with the Big Bwana where we exchange philosophical observations and I venture (often ignored) advice, I questioned him about Hawking and he replied ...................... "WHO ?"

woody with a view - 3-16-2018 at 07:05 PM

God +/- Santa = Easter Bunny

Hearing God's Words

MrBillM - 3-16-2018 at 07:16 PM

In "The Ruling Class", Peter O'Toole said that he knew he was God because whenever he prayed he found that he was talking to himself.

He was wrong, of course.

In my conversations, I found that God sounds just like ME !

And, always (well, mostly) agrees with ME !

Proof that we're (at least) cousins.

I was thinking the same thing.
If there is a God he is more powerful than a black hole. That would be enough right there but then he is more powerful than all the black holes, novas, quasars, suns, etc...
So if God exists... he certainly doesn't care what I think.
I can't think him into existance and I can't think him out of existance.
I hope he does exist and that he knows me and likes me.
I hope he sends Michael the Archangel to kick the sh!t out of my enemies and anybody else who peees me off. Or just protect me from meanies.
Like the ultimate super hero.
But I know he is very busy with all that 's going on. So thank God that I can do all my own... kicking.
He blessed me with lots of good stuff. Like being 6'2" and 200lbs.
Not quite black hole or archangel power... but I do ok.;)
Of course I can always use more of everything.

God, if you read Bajanomad can you please send me lots of money and a new girlfriend. You know the kind I like... super friendly with big boobs.
Thanks in advance. Thank you to your son Jesus for that whole crucifixion thing. That had to hurt like hell!
Sorry about all that sinning I do... over and over again. I'll try to do better but please don't expect too much... the flesh is weak.
But I could probably cut way down on the sin if you send me that girlfriend...
Amen!

paranewbi - 3-17-2018 at 07:52 AM

Black holes, novas, quasars, yep, something came from nothing...
Or energy has always existed...
A lot of faith required for such to be believed.
And all of those who place their faith in 'Science' are disappointed in a lack of 'evidence' to support that belief.

God?
If you desire something from such then act as you want it from such.
The rain comes down on those who act as they do and those who act as they don't. And so all eat of the creation.

What love is given.
How do you return it?
There in lies the evidence.

Big Guy in the Sky ?

Debate over God's Job description continues, BUT Donald Trump should resolve ANY doubts over the influence of Satan.
