ULSD on the peninsula

Can anyone confirm there is ULSD all the way to Cabo?

I know it was *supposed* to happen this year but I haven’t seen anywhere that it actually did.

I’ve searched and read most everything related here and on other sites.

Thanks.

If you've searched this forum you have probably seen this thread. Excellent work and probably as close as you are going to get for a definitive answer.

Thanks, I did see that post. Good info. After more research, I see the Pemex target date for the changeover is Dec 2018.

There 'may' be ULSD available in the La Paz area.

Several of the Pemex stations have changed ownership in the last six months. The most common new brand is REPSOL, a worldwide petroleum company headquartered in Spain. There is also Chevron and another brand, "E -Gas something or other".

The REPSOL stations have installed new signs and facilities, new uniforms, and new hi-tech digital pumps.

The pumps indicate ULSD on a placard installed just above the hose and nozzle. There is no confirmation that ULSD is actually being dispensed and the attendants didn't seem to be aware of the difference.

Bottom line - there is more than one show in town now other than Pemex. Perhaps direct inquiries to REPSOL or Chevron would yield some new information.

Another note - Most of the stations, including Pemex stations, are now posting their prices on digital signs visible from the roads and highways. Prices across La Paz seem to vary up to about a half a peso/liter depending on the station.

Looks like the long promised deregulation of Pemex has occurred.

At our new local Repsol gas station here in Asuncion the diesel pump has the ULSD decal on it too but the gas jockey said it is all the same gas & deisel that came in before....same truck delivers it. He didnt have a clue what ULSD was...and added that supposedly the gas has an additive but where and when do the add it to the gas the truck brings....same truck and gas as before.

Even with the new branding the fuel in this case that is filling stations in Baja is still being transported by the same trucks and from the same refineries in Long Beach. Can they order different diesel from one truck to the next if they have a different account than Pemex? That's the question up north here and would guess down south.
