Hubby drove from Rosarito to San Diego yesterday and collapsed in a parking lot in Otay Mesa. They took him to Sharp Medical in Chula Vista and used
his cell phone to call
I asked about the dog (his Service Dog) and they assured me that the dog was with him, but said that the law didn't allow them to handle it and that
animal services would take it away. I had a complete meltdown and started yelling, "You can't do that, she's trained, she's an elderly dog and if you
take her away to a kennel, she will die of fright!"
It took me six hours to get to the hospital, but when I got there, I found that one of the nurses had given her a towel to lie on, a bowl of water,
and taken her for a walk. I apologized for my rudeness to everyone I talked to. Kudos to the kind professionals at Sharp Medical Center.
P.S. Hubby is stable and coming home soon.

I brought the dog home yesterday.
When you have a Great Dane service dog, it's kind of like walking around with Mick Jagger - nobody sees your face.
I received multiple compliments on her behavior and beauty on my way out the door.
Hubby had a mini-stroke, but he was coherent and articulate today.
The only problem is that where he says the car is isn't. I am waiting for the hospital to call me with the emergency responders report.
I sincerely hope that I don't have to pay towing charges.

Have you called the Police to see IF it was towed ? They will know.

You are very correct, it wasn't funny,
I wanted to highlight the kindness of the professionals that helped my husband, so I like to headline a post with a positive.
I didn't want to outline that the nurse who took ou dog outside and cared for her was risking her job.

Great ending to a terrible and scary event. I imagine your day was beyond hectic but I bet if you had asked us here, someone could have gone for the
dog in san diego.
May your hubbies recuperation be fast.

it seems to be the life we live, panic first...we all hope for your husbands fast and healthy recovery. It is indeed hair raising, panic stricken
pandamoniam when such things happen, so glad all worked out and your perspective is clear at this time, Life happens, stuff happens, tough to be kewl,
but as I have noticed south of the border, good decisions are made with level heads, glad you were close enough to get good help
Dog is Home Safe, Don't Know Where Car Is

Hubby told me that he got sick in the Jack-in-the-Box parking lot in Otay (why am I not surprised?).
I spent all day on the phone talking to employees at the restaurnt using my bad mix of English/Spanish to communicate. They were very nice and tried
hard to be helpful, but didn't remember the sick man or the ambulance that picked him up and they said that the car wasn't there.
I asked the hospital to call me with a record of where the ambulance picked up my husband. No return call yet.
I called the San Diego Police Department info line and got lost in voice mail hell. No info there.
The positive news is that hubby is alert and coherent, if a bit bewildered by why he is in a hospital, a nurse confided to me that they think he had a
mini-stroke.
