Desert Shrub

I'm always on the lookout for this shrub during my offroad trips. It looks particularly nice when growing on that reddish brown rock found everywhere. This one, however, was by the side of the road to mission San Borja.

That is really cool looking... I thumbed through the Baja Plant Field Guide, but didn't spot it. Do you know any name for it?

BajaBlanca - 7-17-2018 at 02:39 PM

It is gorgeous! Me want one hahahahaha

Nice shrub. Have seen similar with yellow flowers --

That shrubbery would most certainly be adequate to satisfy the particularly high standards of the Knights Who Say "Ni!" so that one would be granted safe passage to all the rugged, perilous and beautiful lands beyond that is Baja..............

I hope Mexitron or Pappy Jon (both plant experts) see this thread and can ID the shrub... or maybe even TIM THE SHRUBBER?

looks like some species of sage too me:light:

I believe it's some variety of brittlebush. There are often stalks that come out of the center of each leaf with a flower at the end. The flowers last a very short time so you usually see the bush with protruding stalks. I prefer them in the form above. Just a rounded cone.

Yes, I was thinking brittle bush too! We have lot's of those around Tucson, but they are not quite so rounded. :?:

I don't agree with that. This is not a sagebrush species.

BajaBlanca - 7-18-2018 at 06:35 AM

the search continues!
