Anyone been to Ecuador? We are thinking about riding bikes down there in November

Thinking about going with this company for route and bikes.

Side question, one of my MX national friends wants to come. Anyone know if there is any reason a MX passport holder will have trouble traveling there? I.e. any hard visa requirements?

So are you thinking of taking your own bikes ?

If so, you will need to pay to transport them from Panama as there is NO ROADS through the Darian Gap...

Note , I have been to Colombia 20+ times and Ecuador once....

Flying in and renting 2-3 bikes and a Jeep down there. That video is from a tour company down there out of Quito. They do guided (group) and self-guided rides. We'd ride by ourselves.

Well then, go for it, Ecuador is a very diverse and cool place.

Just avoid any Venezuelan women as the one I met while in Ecuador drugged and robbed me......

Go for it. If it's as good as that video it will be a great experience. It reminds me of the backcountry of Peru. Yes, thieves are eyeing you like that coyote and the roadrunner. Be prepared for bedbugs as well.

Quito is over 9000 feet, and I assume you will be riding uphill from there. Going from near sea level to high altitude probably won't be an issue for younger, healthy riders such as you folks, but an older specimen with cardio problems (me) would probably have to spend some time acclimating.

I would love to tour a while in the Andes, but would plan on spending a week or so in the high Sierras before I went on a vacation in Ecuador, or Chile, a country I have long wanted to visit!

I better quite writing, before jealousy starts to surface!

I would like a off road trip in Colombia ant intel on that. I have been to Peru off road loved it.

Been to Ecuador several times.
Love that place!!
We spent a week up in the north, traveling around in a rental Chevy that probably had about half liter motor, but it got us where we wanted to go.
Each of the northern towns specializes in something different
Art carving in one, pottery in another, leather in yet another,
just ask
US passport visa was a walk through
No idea about MX

Fun stuff when you are directly on the equator
There is a little "Equator park" in the south of Quito that has all kinds of interesting demos on how the equator distorts normality
