Dish Outdoors setup ?

caj13 - 9-2-2018 at 12:38 PM

so in looking at the adds, it seems like if you have dish satelite TV, you could buy a dish outdoors antenna, and use it down in Baja, piggy backin g of your current dish account?

seems like it would be a good idea for anyone splitting their time between the states and Baja.

If I understand it correctly, it would cost you about 300 bucks for the unit, but programing - you already are paying for that, with your home system, but they do ding you an extra 7 bucks a month to get all the same programing on the outdoors antenna

I cant speak for dish but my direct account works fine on the west side and the east, just move the box. Do not have and outdoor antenna deal. Permanent installation both areas.

I have dish...
you need to be able to access the SAT for your area if you do that...

you MAY not be able to get it in baja

I use the MEX Dish SAT and can get an east coast feed from florida

don't assume just because you can get the signal in the USA you can get it here

The little portable dish units probably won't work past san Felipe or Catavina, you will need 1 meter dish or larger the further south you go and you will only get 1 sat. 119 or 129. I use try-pod set up north of catavina and get all 3 sats. south I carry a 4 ft dish and get 119 or 129 sats. Have fun.

you can no longer get 119 in the south

Forget little portable dishes. Those are for US-only travelers. In South Baja you will need antenna bigger than those on shore homes in the US. Depends where you are.

Canadian satellite TV works in South Baja with regular shore-home size antenna, includes quite a bit of US programming, and Latino Dish also works well. But this would be a separate account to pay, in addition to your existing US dish account. When I look into Latino dish programming, their Classico plan doesn't have much in English, though 40 pesos a month is dirt cheap.

In Mulege I gave up on 119 , I have always been able to get 129 in Mulege on my 4 ft portable dish. 119 and 129 are working fine in Buena Vista and Los barriles as of today.

What does the foot print look like for 119 and 129.

Canadian Shaw satellite signals, if not using their full HD programmed equipment, will reach right to the south of Mainland Mexico. We've run into several American RVers that have good reception while at 19 degrees north latitude. Some used an American broker for the equipment.

Bob and Susan - 9-4-2018 at 01:13 PM

119 is the best SAT

it has stations from new York, Chicago and KTLA in LA

For some reason - yes, Canadian Shaw is fine with 3ft dish where US Dishnetwork needs 5ft dish. I guess Shaw footprint is different. But they are expensive for what they offer. All Canadian telecom services are.
