La Mancha in El Barril

Does anyone have info on the "La Mancha Getaway" in El Barril, its the big white house north of the town. Is this a private house? If not, does anyone have a contact to rent?

Where did you find "La Mancha Getaway" listed, the Internet? I was at El Barril last year but saw nothing advertised along the road to town.

Through the wormhole of the internet, I finally found photos of the name " La Mancha". Seen videos of peoples stays, but no other info.

On Google Earth it's shown as Rancho El Barril. About a 1/4 mile north along the beach.

La Mancha, named after a region of Spain (where Don Quixote lived), seemed to be quite a place!
I think the best hope for accommodations for off-road m/c riders is either Punta San Francisquito Resort or Rancho Piedra Blanca... Rancho Escondido is near El Barril and is/was a guest ranch with rooms for m/c riders. However, it was closed-up two times I was by it last year (January and June).

all 3 houses (La Mancha is the biggest) are in private hand - no airbnb

Piedra Blanca was closed for some reason last year when we went through, probably ran into town. Curious about the place in San Francisquito. Was hoping to find a way into La Mancha. Its a shame someone built that place and would't lease it out (for a hefty fee).

for an overnight stay go to Rancho Escondido a few minutes up from El Baril...Oscar & his family are awesome and they have little cabins or a bunk room....great food and huge party palapa...he will show you some cool little cave paintings 5 minutes from the ranch if you want...great organic gardens, cool horses, cows and burros, chickens and other fowl to eat too.....the bomb! Tell em Shari sent ya!

Rancho Escondido is near El Barril and is/was a guest ranch with rooms for m/c riders. However, it was closed-up two times I was by it last year (January and June).

Is there any way to see if they will be open or there before one leaves for Baja?

You can't miss it as it is well signed and on the road to El Barril. See my map "Escondido" (not 'hidden' at all).

La Mancha was built back in the late 1980's by a man out of California. He was a friend of Don Koll who owned El Barril. It is 14,000 square feet inside. It has an underground wine cellar which leads to a walk in refrigerator and then a walk in freezer. When the owner died he left it to his two daughters. They used it for a while but I do not know who uses it now but I do not believe it available to the public.

YOu can contact them via Facebook if you look for Rancho Escondido. I had a classic leaky shower head shower but the water was warm....not sure about the cabins but probably have showers too. I was in the bunkhouse.

Did he buy it from the Villavicencio family?
