Need ATV, sandrail, quad or something fun to ride on beach

wolfpack - 12-18-2018 at 11:26 AM

Hey everyone,

We just arrived 2 days ago south of San Felipe for the month. Loving it and exploring the beaches by foot near Rancho Percubo(?) and near our house around kilometer 9. We want to see more than our feet can do, and want to rent an ATV or some type of offroad vehicle for the week to cruise around the beach, valley of the giants and canon diablo. Where is the cheapest place to rent for a few days or a week? What's a good price for this?
It doesn't have to be fancy *at all*. As long as it is capable of sand and going from point a to point b I'm happy.

Also any suggestions for where to eat in town? - Marisocosas la Palma has been our go to so far, Taco factory was closed. Anything that has battered fish tacos is amazing in my book.

There's a storage place by San Felipe Brewing that rents offroad vehicles. Not sure on the pricing.

My favorite shrimp and fish tacos - https://www.facebook.com/Taqueria-y-Mariscos-Adriana-3440037...

The access to Shell Island is at Km. 26, south of Percebu.
The beach across the lagoon from Percebu is the north end of Shell Island... the south end is at Bahía Santa María, about 4 miles on the beach. A long lagoon and mud flats are between Shell Island and the desert. Because during the highest of tides, it is surrounded by water and so is an island and not just a 'beach'.

Some more dining options -
El Kikiriki – Great grilled chicken and tacos at cheap prices.

La Morena – Good fish and shrimp tacos

La Vaquita – Good seafood. More upscale but still reasonable.

I've seen guys with quads for rent hang out in the lot across from the El Cortez, at the base of the dunes. No idea what they charge.

We found ATV's for $20 per hour across from Victors a few blocks north.
We covered 77 miles, today are VERY sore :) But found a bunch of sulfur out by the mine.
Thanks everyone for the info!

Quads are great for getting into tight places but if you don't need that you can rent a four-wheel drive jeep for less.

I thought vehicles on the beach were illegal in Baja?

What's illegal and what is condoned in Mexico is often very different. Ask any Mexican.

It is a Federal Law for motorized vehicles to be on Mexican beaches, some people do not care if they tear up turtle nests for an couple hours of adventure...isn't there enough sand inland to destroy?????????
