fishbuck - 1-7-2019 at 02:33 PM

What channel:coolup:

TMW - 1-7-2019 at 02:41 PM

I think it would be NBC Sports

thebajarunner - 1-7-2019 at 03:48 PM

It is on NBC Sports.... Dish 159
First stage showing today in less than an hour 3:30 p.m. PST

I set it last year to "record series" and sure enough, it is picking up the record program again this year....did not need to re-set record

fishbuck - 1-7-2019 at 04:24 PM

I got "Lima" recorded at 3:30pm

fishbuck - 1-7-2019 at 04:43 PM

This is cool. Peru is better.

blackwolfmt - 1-7-2019 at 05:17 PM

Some of if not most of the crashes are EPIC Nutzz!!

Dakar. Why are they still calling it that?

Hoping for a return?
Typical corporate stubbornness?
Typical French stubbornness?

I'll await the answer, while having a Pisco Sour.

David K - 1-8-2019 at 09:02 AM

On Spectrum Cable in San Diego North County, NBC Sports is Channel 314. Today Dakar Rally is at 3 pm.

surfhat - 1-8-2019 at 09:18 AM

I have been watching last years race stages lately and yesterday's stage one on Youtube.

Good to know I can watch this on tv. The bigger the screen the better. Thanks.

There is never enough coverage of those beastly trucks. Amazing how they can get through the soft stuff in the dunes.

willardguy - 1-8-2019 at 10:39 AM

looks like a stage 2 win for Walkner with Brabec 2nd :bounce: and looks like Shorty in with a 9th!

Robby back in 24th severely dogged by speed control:(........

"They limited him to 80mph since he is in the SCORE class in the Cars group. He has more travel and HP than the other cars so they limited his speed. The other cars can go 120mph some of them."

blackwolfmt - 1-8-2019 at 04:57 PM

those sand dunes are Crazy

David K - 1-9-2019 at 12:40 AM

Watched it tonight... they sure gave Casey Currie a lot of air time in the 30 min show (he rode with me in the helicopter in 2014 to get to a U.S. hospital after cutting the tip of his finger off surfing at Punta San Carlos).

I see that there are two 30 min shows Wednesday afternoon... DVR is set.

Yes, those are HUGE sand dunes... I love that!

willardguy - 1-9-2019 at 11:20 AM

looks like Ricky 20 minutes back for the day, 7th OA with Shorty sitting in 10th, unless it shakes out a little differently :P

Ricky get lost?
Someone on another site said Robby brought chopsticks to a gun fight. Thought that was pretty funny.

Glad short is doing well, always been a modest and likeable guy.

blackwolfmt - 1-9-2019 at 12:32 PM

Right on Ed,, Andrew looks like hes having a blast

willardguy - 1-9-2019 at 01:02 PM

not sure what happened to Ricky, everyone struggled with the WP in dense fog, possibly stopped to help bang bang trapped at the bottom of the ravine?

on edit.....Barreda couldn't get out without the helicopter, his Dakar is over:(

Cant find Robby Gordon on the official site...Did he retire or what?

surfhat - 1-13-2019 at 11:41 AM

Yesterdays coverage of the moon dust portions was out of this world for all vehicles.

Decades ago in the late 80's I found the same north of San Juanico, and as I was on my own, somehow was able to turn around and take the long way north. Bawk, bawk, bawk, goes the chicken.

Traveling with another would have made all the difference and I have longed to take that road ever since. No 4 wheel for me now, so that is likely out of the question, unless I have a 4 wheel drive vehicle along.

I had a Ford 4 wheel drive van at the time and probably could have made it, but that moon dust was a whole different ballgame.

The Dakar segment yesterday went by some fesh, fesh, something or another name for this same moon dust that affected every type of vehicle. The dust collectors had to be working overtime.

It is a wonder any of them got through that silt.

The spectator situation should be defined bettering the future, if possible. It was a tragic miscalculation by a spectator that one got run over by a truck that was eliminated from the race. There needs to be approved viewing spots out of the way of the competitors.

Quien es macho naturally plays a part.

What a show this is for anyone who has gone off-road, but these dunes are a contest like no other.

A fact I had missed in the past was that there was a Dakar event that went from Paris to Capetown in the early 90's and an American moto racer won. ??????

How long did that take?

I had a landlord years ago that took part in a month long South America race that traveled the Andes back and forth numerous times in a VW bug. A month long? Now that is an adventure.

Kudos to all who participate and those of us who are compelled to watch every segment vicariously going along for the ride.

Here is to Toby being able to keep it going with painful wrist. What a show of character. That goes goes for every single competitor. May you all make it to the finish line.

willardguy - 1-13-2019 at 11:58 AM

Ricky relinquished the lead to Pablo today but lots of racing ahead!:D
