Just read this on the Gringo Gazette regarding Cabo Riveria, a.k.a. "Costa Palmas" in La Ribera. I remember George Bergin's sense of resignation over
the project, and his feeling that no matter how many times the development gets delayed - or runs out of funding - someone somewhere will see dollar
signs and eventually get the proverbial boulder to the top of the mountain. That he didn't live to see it bears testimony to just how long it's taken
to see the light of day.

Cabo Riviera is the ambitious Gringo enclave that's been through several developers over the last dozen years it's been under construction. Canals
have been dredged in an effort to create boat mooring right in front of the homesites that are for sale. It is an ambitious project.
But it's been inflicted with inept and underfunded management from the beginning. Now the desert hugging Defense, Water and Wildlife Baja California
Sur has managed to close it down amid charges of water hugging. They're pointing out that locals are now only getting water to their taps about half
the time and it's all the fault of this new development. The charge is providing opaque environmental processes. the spokesman of the association,
Felipe Padilla , said they are bringing to trial the officials that have authorized the project without the corresponding necessary studies.
If you're confused, where this is, it's the development that has gone through many changes of leadership and direction, and has now changed their name
to Costa Palmas. Whatever they're calling themselves, they're now shut down in a provisional way. Until some money changes hands."

Gringo Gazette doesn't do journalism justice, no surprise here. "Cabo Riviera" is the name of the other huge proposed development put on hold by the
president some years ago located down the coast towards Punta Arena/El Rincon.
The photo they show is of the adjacent marina project to Costa Palmas, (of which to this point is not associated with the "Costa Palmas/Four
Seasons"). Costa Palmas has their own plans for a marina. The marina shown is a separate entity and has been struggling in bankruptcy, and multiple
owners since inception. They definitely destroyed a wetland that was a flyway for migrating bird species. I hope they do hold the folks liable that
granted the permits.
Yes, the La Ribera community's water needs have not been met due to the amount of water required for the elaborate construction taking place at "Costa
Palmas/Four Seasons". This is not going to get any better with all the water features, landscaping, and golf course planed. Word is the daily labor
force bused into town is reaching 1000, up from 400.
Word also is, just like many resort/hotel developments in BCS, it is funded with "lana lavado". No mystery here either, who else can afford a luxury
villa at $15,000,000.00., or the $100,000.00 membership and $25,000.00 annual dues.

I didn't realize that the abandoned marina was a separate entity - and apparently neither did the Gringo Gazette. Such a shame that so much East Cape
coastline has been gobbled up by projects that are either delayed or mothballed, all at the expense of the local population.

I'm not surprised to hear that with all the construction over the past couple years.
