Trump Does Not Cave "National Emergency"

drzura - 2-15-2019 at 11:00 AM

Looks like Trump will get some of his wall ;D

TMW - 2-15-2019 at 11:03 AM

Most likely it will wind up in the courts, probably up to the Supreme Court. 4 to 4 with Roberts being the final say.

drzura - 2-15-2019 at 11:42 AM

From my understanding of what Fox News is reporting, about 4 billion of the total 8 billion being claimed will be tied up in the courts. Fox News is usually correct too 😉

Perfect timing for my trip tomorrow.

A Strange Presentation

MrBillM - 2-15-2019 at 06:39 PM

How about Donald's odd "Sing-Song" voice when describing the course of the upcoming court battle ?

That aside, it's going to be interesting to see how those GOP Senators who expressed the opinion that an Emergency Declaration was unwarranted and an abuse of presidential authority actually vote on the Joint Resolution that will pass the House.

The betting is that they will NOT put their vote where their mouth is.

like any other religion or cult - once you are in, any of your leader's words are true. It creates a wonderful safe haven - whatever people around you say will not bother you any longer.

Exactly. That's why I'm not religious or political.

Gives you the ability to call a spade a spade w/o selling your soul.

Yeah....some them Necular projects were scary....

"Congress has the authority to rescind the national emergency declaration of Trump with a vote of both chambers. The legislative branch should do so. If Congress cannot muster the votes, however, a federal judge is unlikely to do so. Simply put, the courts were not created to protect Congress from itself. Congress has been heading to hell for decades, and it is a bit late to complain about the destination."

Congress Courting Relief

MrBillM - 2-17-2019 at 10:25 AM

It's a tossup which way the Supreme court may go regarding the Emergency power, but the odds would favor the Fuhrer. Congress has nobody to blame other than a previous Congress for writing a badly-worded law. The upcoming Joint-Resolution can be vetoed by Mr. Orange so its sole value is to force the GOP senators to go on record.

The litigation most likely to deter the Dear Leader will involve efforts to move the appropriated funds from other targets, but DCDT may even win there. Then, the Eminent Domain battles are likely to go on for many years given the recent past history.

Which doesn't matter, of course.

The MAGATMan objective is simply to wage the war into 2020 and satisfy his cult.

Trump has kept his promises, and stopped the war that Obama was going to have us be in with North Korea. Has any other president tried as hard and been as successful with keeping campaign promises? Did your insurance costs go down and did you keep your doctor during the previous administration? He may be rude and crude but Trump gets things done with America being his top priority and not wondering if the world approves. We now export energy once again and unemployment is at the lowest levels in our time if not all time.

Maybe cut the guy some slack because he is doing exactly what he said he would. How refreshing.

And we have a runner up!

For those who think the Prez is doing a great job (Bub, DK, other nut jobs here) at least one former supporter thinks you're wrong. Who you gonna believe? Ann or the nut jobs? (Hint: Ann is smarter and in the loop. Nut jobs watch Hannity and Fox Fake News and believe what they are hearing.)

''No, the goal of a national emergency is for Trump to scam the stupidest people in his base for 2 more years," she tweeted early Friday morning. "The goal is to get Trump's stupidest voters to say "HE'S FIGHTING!" No he's not. If he signs this bill, it's over."

Ann Coulter after Trump's order: ‘The only national emergency is that our president is an idiot’

One of the few times I agreed with Ann coulter.

Seeing the Lefties embrace Acid Annie in her Dueling Dickery Dominance over DT is fairly funny.

Schoolyard insults aside, the essence of her criticism is that the Kult-Leader isn't standing firm in the White Fight to "Ban the Brown Bums from our Towns" Battle.

President Trump said the wall will be built ten feet higher now ;)

What difference does it make at this point?

In 10 years were all going to be consumed by the monster global warming phenom.

So hot tip>> Get your first class ticket to Hawaii on a train and hope it has flotation devises on board.

drzura - 2-17-2019 at 07:18 PM

I think I heard that life on earth will cease to exist in 10 years.... 30 years ago. And you know what, we are still here living a pretty comfortable life. Too many chicken little's and the sky is falling syndrome. ;D

Many people who voted for Trump insist Earth is only 6,000 years old:light:

Hallelujah, Amen and .................. W-T-F ?

MrBillM - 2-18-2019 at 10:42 AM

Slightly slipping numbers show that even (some of) the Christians in the Cult apparently have limits to their blind faith in the Divinity of Donald.

Although that's a group he has a pretty firm hold on. Donald as the latter-day JC may seem pretty odd to rational minds, but I'm beyond counting how many times that I've heard (in various wordings) "HE has been sent by God to SAVE us" or that "HE is a part of God's PLAN".

As was Adolf ?

As I've said to a few (one of whom doesn't talk to me, anymore) "OK, I get it that God works in mysterious ways, but TRUMP ................ WTF ?"

Lee - 2-18-2019 at 11:12 AM

Dubya Bush was quoted as saying, "I am driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, `George, go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan'. And I did. And then God would tell me 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq'. And I did."

If God is directing the political cluster flock playing out, lets get it on. Bring everything to a screeching halt and start again. Burn it down and rebuild it.

Term limits.

Many people who voted for Trump insist Earth is only 6,000 years old:light:

And flat.
Crazy thing is 2200 years ago there wasn’t a single christian on this planet.
Or any other planet.
Anywhere.
In the entire universe.
And beyond.

The thing I find most amusing about this gabbling? Most of us old Baja Rats KNOW that 2 or 3 Mexican 15 year olds will find a way over-under-through any wall built, no matter how much money is spent to build it...:o
