Showers available in BoLA?

hombre66 - 3-17-2019 at 02:00 PM

Can any shower facility be purchased in BoLA without having to settle into a campground? We may camp over the hill from La Gringa in front of Coronado/Smith island. (Ladies in our group need to know.) Would be going into town every 3 days or so for ice, etc. Thanks for your help.

No showers that I am aware of, other than hotels, etc.

Get a sun shower (bag), and learn to take low-water (2 gal) showers. Easy peasy!

I've enjoyed this salt water body bath/shampoo since the 70s. Great for beach camping. It leaves the skin feeling soft. Maybe your group could use it for daily use between the trips to town. <1 qt. of freshwater will rinse any remaining salt.

Most campgrounds will let you shower for a fee, less than the camp fee. If you want to use the ocean use a soap for dishes, they lather good in salt water.

I'm sure Daggotts or Archelon would let you shower for a few dollars, they are on your way out to La Gringa. Only used Daggott's, nothing fancy but it did have hot water. You can facebook message either place to find out.

TMW/advrider: this was the info I was looking for. Thank you.I suppose this would apply to toilet facilities as well. Were betting on good wind conditions, dates there are 4/25 thru 5/4. Used to use this time in the spring to get to Pta SFO, but too far for those of us pushing 70 anos. Any fishing reports for the canal in front of Coronado/Smith would be appreciated as well. Used to get very nice Ocean Whitefish, Triggs and respectable Spotties there.

Rent a room every 3 days and everyone can shower. Lol

Try Archelon. Give them a few bucks per person (since palapa rent is $8). They have 2 shower cabins, each one with 2 stalls.

Daggets would be my second choice (I think there is one shower building with total 2 stalls).

Then the ladies will realize that they don't enjoy living in a tent.

I remeber seeing an outdoor shower structure at Daggetts.
They are super cool there.

Go to Archelon and ask young Antonio or Bety
Yeah, couple of bucks should do the deal
They have a shower building with a couple showers, hot water, very convenient.
Remember, this is not a freebie for them
They have to haul fresh water from town
And pay for the water heaters.
Also, try to remember to "Navy shower"
Wet down, turn off the tap, soap down and then rinse.
When you see how much effort it is to bring in fresh water you will understand.

Daggets showers are inside of a concrete block structure with roof and walls. There are 2 separate shower stalls with doors. Toilets are in the same compound.

Fill a spray bottle with fresh water. Leave it in the sun for a while until it warms. Spray yourself using a wash cloth. Feels afterward like you've had a shower.

Campo Archelon is very nice and has two shower/ toilet structures. See them at Mile 1.3 from sailboat traffic circle (links as well):

Genius!

A lot of good spray-bottle will do when you've just shampooed your hair and ran out water. There are better choices:

Bajarunner, DK, thank you for the useful tips. Marc, I'm in my 60's and learned how to bathe as a child.

Skipjack Joe - 3-20-2019 at 02:19 AM

Use baby wipes in a pinch. A shower every 3 days is a luxury in baja.

Hook - 3-20-2019 at 06:37 AM

Personally, I extend the days between showers with............a body powder like Shower to Shower. If you cant stand the feeling of dried sweat, day after day, and are not really that dirty, a body powder makes crawling into the sack much more pleasant.
