Painted Ladies are everywhere here!

fishbuck - 3-18-2019 at 03:22 PM

I don't mean the over-priced over-valued Newport Beach kind.
I talking butterfly action.
How is the butterfly season going in Baja?

Saw a few in La Paz last week, but swarms in Borrego with all the wildflowers a couple of weeks ago.

StuckSucks - 3-18-2019 at 03:57 PM

For the past week there have been a gazillion Painted Ladies flying north near LAX.

Mass Migration of Painted Lady Butterflies Entrances Californians

Howard - 3-18-2019 at 04:11 PM

What do they taste like? Like chicken?

As StuckSuck says, there were gazillions of them around LAX last week.

What a migration! Mother nature at her finest!

Anybody got any Baja butterfly photos?

Skipjack Joe - 3-18-2019 at 06:18 PM

They splat yellow on the windshield.

Paco Facullo - 3-18-2019 at 06:31 PM

I also heard they are a Delicious condiment on a Taco...

Thanks. Lots of nice pictures in there.

We do not have any butterflies flying around here in La Bocana. I think they will be here soon because the birds are having a feast in the bushes....we think they are after caterpillars but I haven't seen them myself.

There are, however, lots of bees. Les had a meeting with some of them recently.

Dead Painted Ladies

Traveling between home and Banning a half-dozen times in the last week, my windshield has terminated scores of them. I wish they'd be more careful. Their residue is a pain to remove.

Saw thousands flying through this part of the Palm Springs area.

David K - 3-19-2019 at 08:53 AM

They were heavy for two days, early last week, here in San Diego County.

Today on their Way Elsewhere

MrBillM - 3-19-2019 at 08:17 PM

Driving down Hwy 62 to I-10 this a.m. killed 3-4.

None this afternoon.
