Been on a handful of hikes outside of Loreto to some of the ponds and waterfall spots.

There are some little 'bugs' in the ponds that look like small birds. They stay under water, hide in the rocks, but swim around really fast.
They are probably about the size of a small mouse.
They have 'wings' or 'fins'
Move really fast and look to just dart between under a rock to surface or near surface and back

The only place I have seen them is in the shaded ponds near Loreto.

Just curious if anybody knows what they are??

Wish I had pics....

Anyone?

They could be birds...The American Dipper is one such bird and it's scientific name is Cinclus mexicanus

Could it be a Water Boatman insect?

Try putting a worm on a hook and see if you can catch one....
