Great dog adoptions at Good Boy Shelter in San Quintin!

For the first time in ages I went to Ensenada in my car and stayed at Jardines on our way home with grandson Izaak in tow.
Both our old dogs Shami & Cafe are now frolicking on the other side so we were dogless so I thought I would stop in and just see what the dog rescue place in San Quintin had. It is only a few blocks from Jardines.

They had over 100 dogs of all size and flavours and were in very good condition and well cared for. It was tough to decide which dog to choose as there were several good candidates.

We fell in love with Penny who is a very sweet, quiet, calm year old doggie and ended up taking her home with us. She is the perfect match for us and is learning about the beach and how to be around humans. She just learned to fetch yesterday! needless to say Penny is a happy girl here in Asuncion!

The adoption was professionally handled and dogs are very clean, nno fleas, sterilized, have their shots & the health passport. It was a great experience and glad we were able to take home at least one dog...may go back for our # 2 choice. So if you are looking for a companion pooch check out what they have at Good Boy Refuge...they also have a facebook page Refugio para Mascotas Good Boy...a big shoutout to all that help out there....great job!

The is where the are sending now that I am old.
The Good Old Boy shelter... it's next door... there is plenty of dogs to play with...
I will volunteer there if the dogs let me...
I hear they are mad at me for my stance on not allowing them on my bed...
It's been a real hair of contention between us for a long time now;)

I was wondering if they can teach an old baja dog a new baja trick there?
I guess I will need to go test that theory out there.
I like the "kid on the beach pull test".
Looks like a two dogger to me for sure.
I like the teamwork...

I am sorry to hear that both Cafe and Shami have passed. Café was a good old dog, that commanded respect from my rowdy girl Bailey, but Shami was up for a run with my dog just about anytime.

They were both great dogs!

Saw a you tube, one of those 5 dangerous things that could
happen to you in Mex, #1 was you might adopt a dog

#2 most is the dog. And I would never do that.

#1 most dangeruos is adopting a lady there... I I will never do that again...
There are several You Tubes that we made together... that part was fun:cool:

I have brought back two Baja dogs. One from Mission Hotel in San Ignacio and the other from Cuesta Real in Mulege. Both wonderful dogs, but my wife says that if I bring back any more she won't let me go back down.

Good for you getting an awesome dog! Thank you for getting the word out about the Refugio!

I'll be down there in about 10 days delivering supplies and hanging out.

It was so interesting to meet a dog that had been in a pen for so long with a bunch of doggie amigos and not really used to human interactions. She plays with me like one of her dog friends and has to learn not to nip and jump up on me. She cant quite figure out humans...and why she cant lay on the couch. She certainly cant understand why the heck I want her to learn to sit & lie down. I was surprised she learned to fetch!

The cat taught her a lesson on personal space one day so she doesnt even want to come into the house now...hahaha.

She stays close to home and is quiet afraid of other dogs...I understand she was attacked before...so she loves her new freedom but doesnt much stray outside our perimeter at the Inn. She sticks to me like glue the sweety.

She is trying out new kinds of bones to knaw on like this dolphin vertebrae in our front yard in San Roque.

She is enjoying all the new beaches we take her to every day and really checking out all the new scents....like this dolphin...luckily I said a stern NO when she went to roll in it.

She has been great with our guests who all love her too!

Oh jeez Shari... I had no idea you lost Café. I bonded with her the first time I rolled into Asuncion many years ago. I felt an even stronger bond 5 years later when she rested her head on my lap during a long sunset. The new dogs are beautiful and lucky to have you. Peace.
