Cracked windshield @ SENTRI

BajaTed - 8-25-2019 at 10:07 AM

My truck got the windshield cracked, urban rumor says I'll get P-nched in SENTRI if noticed when going through????

That used to be the case when they had the transponders and stickers, but now that they don't require anything on the windshield, I don't know. I'd be interested to hear from others, as I have three chips that look they want to get together and make a crack.

When I did my interview for GE last week the lady asked me if my windshield was cracked. I told her in the lower corner passenger side. Asked if it obstructed my view and I said no. She told me be careful and it’s up to me but they are really cracking down in San Diego. Not sure exactly what that meant but I guess I’ll find out when I cross the first time.

I ran into a golf ball, I had the damage glued by safelite so it wouldn’t crack further. It still looked like this and went through sentri many times. Maybe not mentioned because it isn’t a crack, idk.

I had to cross through SENTRI with a very recently cracked windshield. (4 hours prior, stupid truck throwing rocks...) Anyhow, I seem to recall telling him what happened, no problem.

Back in 2006 or so I had a cracked windshield, down at the bottom, about 8 inches long, a crack that started small and grew horizontally, and the Sentri guy sent me to secondary. They pulled off the sticker and told me I couldn't use Sentri again until I got the window fixed and stopped at the Sentri office to get a new sticker. I'll refrain from commenting about my thoughts. Since this is peace, love, and effing tacos.

And, I had driven through Sentri numerous times with the cracked windshield.......and then I came upon inspector Dudley Do-right.

They don't issue stickers anymore, so if they don't like a cracked windshield, you'll get told about it in secondary.

Quick sentries question about dirt bikes

Sisko - 8-26-2019 at 10:23 PM

What’s the deal with dirt bikes in the back of the truck with Sentri? I’ve done it about dozen times and only been given a hard time once or twice with a stern warning but no secondary. Anyone know the official rule on this? What’s been your experience?

Bajazly - 8-26-2019 at 11:15 PM

On secondary, I get you need to go thru the first time for the inspection and all but the nice lady who interviewed me said after that you may be pulled in the the next half a dozen times so just grin and be nice about it and there won’t be any problems.

Any rule of thumb how many times they might want to detain you? I know it’s the gov and anything can happen but does anybody have any recent first few or so crossing stories?

Reminder; when in the secondary area, you need to first ask permission to get out of your vehicle. (had to pee)
Been there, done that for the last time, its their railroad in there and don't forget that.
Saw M-4 Carbines swinging.......(didn't have to pee no more, amazing)

In the past 10+ years with SENTRI/Global Entry have been sent to Secondary 3 times for "random vehicle inspection" (apparently computer generated according to the CBP guy in secondary). Driver's license, SENTRI/GE card, vehicle insurance, vehicle registration....a quick peek under the hood.......very professional, very polite (please and thank you). 15 minutes max.......more interested in scratching the ears of our Labrador Retriever

Reminder; Wear 'Depends' if you think you are headed for secondary!

Don't forget the old "you have too much stuff for sentri" and your "your truck is too dirty" BS reasons for being given a hard time crossing.

Hello to all the nomadas in here.
Its been a while since i last posted.
I used to live in San Diego Ca.
Moved to Nevada since last March.
And registered here in Nv. I am in the sentri
Program. So i have a question about the sentri
How to renew with a different address.
Does anyone have been thru a similar experience?
Thank you very much in advance. Mis queridos nomadas.
