Another Ferry Question

kiterkip - 9-10-2019 at 06:07 PM

I realize that if I take the TMC ferry between La Paz & Mazatlan I will be able to stay with my small dog rather than place her in confinement. My question: Do you think that I could bring a cot or an air mattress to sleep on the deck for sleeping would be permitted? My Subaru will be too full for sleep unless I'm sitting up-right.
Thank You

My two door Kia sportage probably has less room than your Subaru, and my dog is ninety pounds! My passenger seat reclines like a barber chair, so I stow light, easily moved items behind it, and my dog's bed is on top the load behind the driver.s seat.

If I need to sleep before I reach better accommodations, I throw the light stuff on the driver's seat, a footrest on the floor, and I have a cramped but relatively comfy bunk. My dog likes it too, because she is right next to me!

Most of the time I would rather do that than mess with a tent, cot, air mattress, and trying to keep my dog from wandering off. Do a test run before you leave and see if it works for you!

TMC doesn't make you put your buddy in a kennel?

Been on the Baja Ferry many times and they always require a dog kennel placed in their special dog compartment. I've never taken TMC but many friends have and the story is they always keep their dogs with them in their vehicles.
My "issue" to resolve is that I'm driving south into the mainland usually with 5 months worth of stuff for our winter. This has always needed a shoe-horn to pack & load.
I'll experiment like you suggest.
