San Ysidro Pedestrian Crossing

I walked across Saturday and there was less than a 10-minute wait in both directions. The work that has been accomplished on both sides of the border is impressive. It has been entirely rebuilt, the buildings are new, clean and everything is well organized.

I walked south on the east side by the San Diego trolley station. The extranjero lane was backed up with about 20 people buying their admission tickets., er, I mean FMMs, so I used the Mexican lane with my 180 day FMM in hand, no problem. The official just glanced at it from a distance and waved me through.

Tons of construction on the TJ side once you're through the border. The parking lot closest to the border has been replaced with a modern 6 story parking ramp with elevators. It looked to be nearly full. Again, all new and clean. Plus there are a few other multi-story buildings going up. The place is booming.

Walking north I used the "Pedwest" facilities. A short line that moved quickly. All new, clean, organized.

What a difference from the old days.
