La Paz Collectivos?!

jonnymoderation - 2-22-2020 at 05:44 PM

Hola,
We are back in La Paz after visiting Tecolote, and are pretty ready to leave - Carnaval is loud !! So a few transit questions.

I prefer to use collectivo service always and am wondering if anyone has info about the service in & around town?

We have been doing ok asking locals for point A-B, but is there a route map somewhere?

I hear it doesn't go out to the airport, but how far does it go down the highway? Towards Todos Santos or towards Ciudad Constitucion?

Lastly, any public service up to Mogote, El Cajete, Punta Coyote?

Any info is appreciated,
Gracias!

Let's talk!

I read your U2U, and if you are ready to leave La Paz, I can drive you to your next destination (within reason) tomorrow! Tell me with another U2U where and when to meet you, and we can discuss the destination.

The internet here is spotty, and there are so, many options that we should talk in person. Warning, if a large, friendly but excitable dog is a deal breaker, let me know now, because she is part of the offer!

Colectivos go as far as El Centenario
closest to the airport drop off is Chametla
airport is 4km from there
no public service towards San Juan de la Costa, or Mogote

Chuck you have a real problem! Met these two very nice respectable people that have traveled extensively through out the globe. Wish I was so world traveled when I was that young. Living life and having a good time at it. Why you such a downer?
Live and let live. If you were to meet these people you may have a different perspective... Just say'in.:light:

I'll be glad to help you guys orient if you come to Todos Santos. Shuttle service, Taqueria, beach taxi.... I live out by the beach in Pescadero. U2U....lots of young kids here camping/surfing at San Pedrito.

The peseros in most of Mexico have regular routes and the regulars know them. It's all local knowledge stuff. The solution for a newcomer is to ask. In La Paz they gather around the Madero mkt. Four outlying areas they gather around Sorina plaza. For Ventana and Centenario areas they are near the Bravo mkt. There will be a very busy "police" looking person with clipboard, a whistle and knowledge walking around. Ask that person. Anywhere else, ask the driver if he goes there before getting on. He will direct you to the proper pesero. So far no women in this game. Even the locals ask. If you don't speak Spanish it will add to the fun.

Gracias! For the solid advice. We will head towards the West coast, then south towards todos Santos (time constraints, gotta fly home soon) Any alternate routes available for La Paz - TS?
