Coco's

sherdoggie - 2-24-2020 at 10:34 PM

Will be heading down Hwy 5 next month. With the new road from Gonzaga to Hwy 1 completed, does anyone know if there is there a turnoff for Coco's? Or will I need to take the old dirt road? I'd like to visit with Coco again, but only if there is a short dirt section to get to his place. Any responses will be greatly appreciated.

The old dirt road is a thing of the past for the most part. The turn off is pretty well marked and the road is good from the north or at least was a couple months ago when we came out that way.

If your heading west from Gonzaga you will see a road junction with a bunch of plastic barrels with spray paint noting free camping at Cocos. 10 min drive to cocos From there. We double backed to get back on the pavement.

South from Gonzaga, we have been told it is at Km. 179.5. Lots of signs at the junction. It is 4 miles to Coco's from the highway.
We do not have any feedback on the road's south junction, in the canyon.

Also signed at the south junction. That part of the old road is rougher. It's probably faster to continue north on the new road to the north junction and then detour to Coco's

I would appreciate the kilometer markers at the south junction from anybody who can note it. :light:

I should be passing that way from the south in about a week, I will check out the road and report back if no one else does first.

You need to record a track and post it!

Sound good. We'll be heading south on Hwy 5, so the north detour will work for us. Coming back north all the way on Hwy 1. Thanks to all for the replies.

Please note what Km. marker (or between what markers) that the south access to Coco's meets Hwy. 5. Thanks!
